Local journalists are on the frontlines of truth-telling in our communities. From city council meetings to community events, local media keeps us informed and connected. Our local journalists deserve our support— so I stand by @NoisyUnion in their fight for fair pay.
Noisy Creek bought us, promised more resources, but refused an interim agreement to raise unit wages. Now they want to hire a new reporter for more than they pay current staff. If the company can't afford to pay workers a wage we can thrive on, we can't afford new reporters.

Happy Opposite House Cut Off!! Yesterday at 5pm was the deadline for Senate bills to pass out of the House and for House bills to pass out of the Senate. I'm very proud to share that these four bills* have made it out of the Senate and are heading to the Governor's desk!

I’m outraged and exhausted. Families deserve better, Washington deserves better. There is no justice in this decision. I promise to work hard everyday for the lives of BIPOC individuals, which means there must be police accountability. We can and must do better.

My heart aches intensely for my siblings in Israel and Palestine and I can no longer stay silent. I have endorsed the Multifaith Solidarity Statement for Peace and Justice in Israel/Palestine because I believe we must initiate this crucial dialogue locally.

All I can think about this morning is moving elections to even years. We have to address this voter turn out problem.
INBOX: King County Elections had predicted a 45% turnout initially for tonight’s local elections, but because of slow ballot returns it’s “looking like we’ll end up closer to 40% than 45%.”

D. C. was a lot of fun! Had a White House briefing on infrastructure, met with members of our delegation like @PramilaJayapal and @DrKimSchrier to talk about behavioral health workforce, data collection for Middle Eastern North African folks, + challenges in the Iranian diaspora.
