By the way the telecom biz is still the bigger one by far. Assuming Starlink is at about $10B in revenue right now with 8,000 satellites, that's $1.25MM per year per satellite. To estimate AI revenue per satellite, assume they're all Starlink v2 with ~5 kW solar. Assume a 70%

My view on datacenters in space. It absolutely works under one circumstance: you are already operating Starlink or a similar constellation. In that case, all of the CAPEX (bus, launch, ground segment) is already bought and paid for by telecom users. Heat rejection should

Generational wealth is overrated. Who can you think of who benefited most from inherited wealth? What you need are generational values and generational knowledge. Who can you think of who benefited most from generational values or knowledge?

Defending this approach - having every company under the sun on a $0 contract with basic vetting, compliance requirements, and other terms and conditions agreed is a smart idea if you want to be able to issue actual orders quickly when the deliverables and price are agreed. Very

How it feels to be a rocket startup when blowing up test hardware becomes cool
NEW IN PIRATE WIRES: Last week, both the Wall Street Journal and Reuters published pieces critiquing Anduril’s practice of testing weapons to failure. But America’s defense industry has a long history of blowing up test hardware to build the world’s best weapons (and win wars).

Having a great time with close friends
strangely delighted by the 30 seconds of slightly awkward silence as top Chinese official Zhao Leji, NGA director Nick Mitzevich and a host of officials, translators and security officers all crowd onto the escalator and then stare determinedly into the middle distance

Blowing up the rail track on the Warsaw-Lublin route is an unprecedented act of sabotage targeting directly the security of the Polish state and its civilians. This route is also crucially important for delivering aid to Ukraine. We will catch the perpetrators, whoever they are.

BMD is trully a beautiful world, and the more you think you might know about it, the more there is to learn, until you reach something classified.
Deviating a bit from the original post, missile defense is extremely misunderstood. Not only can we "hit a bullet with a bullet," we can chose where on the bullet we want to hit with another bullet, and we're getting pretty darn good at it.

This is true in almost every hardware engineering domain - robotics, space, defense, ag, mining, etc. 3-5 Chinese startups for every 1 in the rest of the world combined. If you think there were a lot of well funded launch startups in America in 2021 look at China now…
chinese startups have shipped more humanoids than any other country combined. here's a list of all of them. and why we should start shipping and stop beefing with our own. @adcock_brett

You have to understand that right now, Iran, Russia, China, and North Korea are all working hard to increase their missile arsenals to the point that they can overwhelm defenses. There is no countervailing force or trend. It’s bleak.

It is inevitable and the next one will be far worse
The Dangerous Stalemate Over Iran’s Nuclear Program With no negotiations, no oversight and no clarity about Iran’s stock of nuclear material, many in the region fear another war with Israel is inevitable https://t.co/fIBzigSFdm

Not that hard: - 3 cups 00 flour with 3 eggs plus 4 yolks, knead well and rest 1hr, cut into spaghetti - render and crisp guanciale low and slow no added oil, remove meat when crispy - boil pasta 2m, don’t salt the water too much because you’re going to use it - whip up 2 eggs
