The cause for this is France's lack of a LO/VLO fighter having to be filled with a UCAV interim capability mainly for SEAD missions against complex IAMDS. Due to its likely high cost it will be a rare ressource unlike the US CCA.

On that topic, its interesting to note the different approaches taken by the French and US airfroce regarding drone wingman. The search for affordability and relative simplicity for the CCA contrasts the Rafale UCAV's VLO form factors, large internal weapons bay etc.
And now Rafale bros will talk about this for years as they’ve done with the F-22 video. I like the Rafale but please let’s be serious here.

YJ-17 - allegedly a hypersonic anti-ship missile. Two missiles can be carried via its 8X8 truck. The missile is reportedly based on the DF-17 (hence the name).

Stating the obvious here since it’s a training ect but if an F-35 gets into dogfight range something major went wrong.
During #AtlanticTrident25 Exercise organized by NATO in Finland, a French air force Rafale shot down an USAF F-35 in a mock dogfight.
