I fight for more freedom and less government (sorry to be redundant).

C’mon, @jackvlloyd. Give us a question where the answer isn’t obvious.

Yesterday’s column mocked the the socialist mayoral candidate who won the Democratic primary in New York City. As I noted, Zohran Mamdani is an AOC-style hard-core leftist who wants to travel…

...and that's when there will be big pressure for bailouts from D.C. (2/2)

I lied. Back in 2023, I wrote that Part V would be the last segment in my series on blue-to-red tax migration (with Parts I-IV available here, here, here, and here). But I’ve decided to exten…

Except Bush was not a neo-Reaganite.
danieljmitchell.wordpress.com
Back in 2013, I did an assessment of economic policy changes that occurred during the Clinton Administration. The bottom line was that the overall burden of government declined by a semi-significan…
@DavidAFrench With one difference, though, that unlike in 1970-1980, in 2000-2008 a neo-Reaganite administration was in power in America, and presided over some of the era's major catastrophes while presenting itself as the natural heir of the original Reagan Right. The subsequent turn to

Maybe Republicans, instead of cronyism, protectionism, and profligacy, should copy @JMilei, who won a landslide with young voters with a message of free markets and small government?
danieljmitchell.wordpress.com
I only share longer videos when there are very important points to be made (such as the rise and decline of New York City or Trump’s foolish protectionism). But I hope people will be patient …
A piece on the disintegration of the younger generation's belief in society - and Trump's complete lack of answers for it. Serious and somber. No jokes. The latest at @NRO:

I hope @bariweiss fixes this bias at @60Minutes. No jurisdiction has banned any of her books. It’s not censorship if somebody or some institution chooses not to buy a book.
danieljmitchell.wordpress.com
In my libertarian fantasy world, schools and libraries would be private institutions, which means market forces would determine which books would be available. This would mean plenty of diversity. …
Margaret Atwood, author of 64 books including “The Handmaid’s Tale,” has seen her work banned for content deemed overly sexual, morally corrupt, and anti-Christian. https://t.co/nBbi6le8WX

Be careful what you wish for, @InMilei. The OECD is a very statist bureaucracy.

It would not take much effort. Just replace every mention of “Biden” with “Trump”

When Biden blamed meat packers for rising beef prices, the GOP's Ways and Means Committee members put out a "fact check" explaining why Biden was wrong. I wonder if there will be a similar fact check for Trump:

That’s not the “only problem,” I’m sure you’ll agree, @ericadyork. Trump also is guilty of using an anti-growth tax increase to finance a non-growth, Keynesian-style giveaway. May as well drop money from a helicopter.

While speaking last week at the Acton Institute in Michigan, I responded to a question about the perpetual motion machine of Keynesian economics. For purposes of today’s column, let’s t…
The President just proposed a $2,000 tariff “dividend” for each person, excluding high-income earners. If the cutoff is $100,000, 150M adults would qualify, for a cost near $300 billion. If kids qualify, that grows. Only problem, new tariffs have raised $120 billion so far.
