Would also have part of the retail park in Selly Oak as a Halo nightclub - has the student pop, and transport links.

Dogpool Hotel has everything going for it to be Hare and Hounds Mark II. I know nothing about promoting or hospitality running. Hope someone who does takes this on - or government seriously encourage small businesses to take the risk.

Brave denizens of the London media class keep pitching up in Birmingham's suburbs: but is what they find correct? My counterpunch for @brumdispatch below:

The Telegraph slammed the area and one local said it was on the ‘verge of civil war’. What's it actually like?

Peston doing paid ads for Google is as organic as it gets: no difference in analysis or tone between his top billing news show and him flogging wares for the tech behemoths. Result!

Does anyone actually know a Brummie escalator mechanic? Because I’d absolutely love to do a 3000-word long-read on why 75% of them don’t work.

But WHY do you need a skilled editor? - fresh eyes and ears - they'll immediately notice your tics and habits - they see the holes in your plot or narrative - they'll have specific helpful ideas on how to address all of these Your prose isn't some precious fragile soap bubble!

Seems like local police were taking their job and community impact/safety incredibly seriously. https://t.co/Lg1DwybE87

700+ frontline West Midlands coppers lost since 2010 austerity. A force in special measures for a period - due to its inability to do its job. I'm sure the culture secretary is aware that the city's culture funding has been hacked to zero. Nandy, if resources can be found...

🚨BREAKING -- Culture secretary Lisa Nandy makes an urgent statement on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans attending a football game in Birmingham. "We will find the resources that need to be made available once the West Midlands police has come forward with the risk assessment", she says.

Iain Duncan Smith says when Maccabi played a game in Istanbul there was no trouble at all @IanByrneMP had to point out UEFA moved the game to Hungary after the Turkish authorities refused to stage it &the Hungarian authorities then played it behind closed doors. Hence no trouble

Lisa Nandy has edited the bit where she misled parliament today by stating that the ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans is unprecedented in recent times. Either she didn't know that was untrue, or she did know and lied. Either way, she should correct that statement in the Commons

This is about who we are as a country. People are free to protest, free to lobby Government and free to express their views passionately. But no one should try to dictate who can participate in competitions or walk the streets in safety.

A very pointed final line in a statement from the UK Football Policing Unit on the Maccabi story “if the government want a role in regulating football events that could be termed ‘events of national significance’, then they need to bring forward legislation”

Lots of partisan instrumentalisation of Maccabi-Villa after police banned Israeli fans from the @EuropaLeague match - not least London commentators wading in without facts. I wrote the primer on how we got here for @brumdispatch Here's the lowdown: https://t.co/5WGcqAKLUK

When Maccabi Tel Aviv played in Amsterdam there was fighting in the streets. Now they’re heading to Villa Park.

Council tax rebates for all? Huge public apology? Some barred from public office or position again? Forced buyback of flogged assets? Services reinstated? imho, that's the bare minimum.

A disgraceful tale of @BhamCityCouncil's incompetence coupled with bad legal advice. The victims and those that have paid the price are the bin workers and local residents. The ongoing bin strike is a direct result of the council’s mismanagement of its finances. #Birmingham
