Today will go down as some kind of turning point. Somewhat arbitrarily, but it is OK if journalists and historians have to present things in that manner.

I'm proud to have had @JeffDean as my lead at Google for the last 10 years. He is one of the few people of his stature in our industry always willing to stand up and say the obvious. We can't let this administration scare us away from acknowledging the reality we are living in.

This is absolutely shameful. Agents of a federal agency unnecessarily escalating, and then executing a defenseless citizen whose offense appears to be using his cell phone camera. Every person regardless of political affiliation should be denouncing this.

So after all these hours talking about AI, in these last five minutes I am going to talk about: Horses. Engines, steam engines, were invented in 1700. And what followed was 200 years of steady improvement, with engines getting 20% better a decade. For the first 120 years of

Today we are releasing & open-sourcing Segment Anything 3 (SAM 3). It is a state-of-the-art model for image & video segmentation, and builds upon the work of SAM & SAM 2. SAM3 will also power features in Edits, Meta AI, & Facebook Marketplace soon. https://t.co/ufppJ6gR3c

there is probably a bitter lesson of robotics.. that composable, easy-to-scale things like nanobots are way better than trying to build a humanoid that can do backflips

when ai came to san francisco, it encountered a significant spiritual reawakening. all of a sudden there was this a novel technology, the product of some of the core institutions of silicon valley, that is genuinely miraculous: at this point nobody except those employing highly

the browser wars have barely begun there are many-billion $ opportunities to owning the next-gen "browser" (will be an anachronym soon) and most players who are well-positioned (browser co, openai, google, apple) aren't thinking nearly radically enough

people don’t get that the skillset to build superintelligence in a domain != being superintelligent yourself in that domain everyone who worked on the IMO models wasn’t IMO level. people who built codex weren’t the world’s best coders. this will become increasingly true.

Today, @ekindogus and I are excited to introduce @periodiclabs. Our goal is to create an AI scientist. Science works by conjecturing how the world might be, running experiments, and learning from the results. Intelligence is necessary, but not sufficient. New knowledge is

It’s rare for competitors to collaborate. Yet that’s exactly what OpenAI and @AnthropicAI just did—by testing each other’s models with our respective internal safety and alignment evaluations. Today, we’re publishing the results. Frontier AI companies will inevitably compete on

At @OpenAI, we believe that AI can accelerate science and drug discovery. An exciting example is our work with @RetroBiosciences, where a custom model designed improved variants of the Nobel-prize winning Yamanaka proteins. Today we published a closer look at the breakthrough. ⬇️
