I also think Twitter seems best as a public protocol. But while Elon Musk's wealth makes it possible, the trade-off is a severe loss of trust given his public hostility. A public good needs leaders inspiring public trust. He could find better people to control it. Will he try?.

In principle, I don’t believe anyone should own or run Twitter. It wants to be a public good at a protocol level, not a company. Solving for the problem of it being a company however, Elon is the singular solution I trust. I trust his mission to extend the light of consciousness.

This is shocking. The fears and prejudices about trans people have been a distressingly global phenomenon but have an increasingly sinister bent in US politics. This latest move requires alarm bells ringing.

Thinking the title of the film "2 Fast 2 Furious" seems like a parody of itself while also being the best representation of the thing it’s parodying. Is that even ontologically possible? Has to be a philosophical premise already. (I'm avoiding stress about political conflict.)

I guess every time I thought I knew about the history of jumping from a plank position to a squat, I should've considered I'd only imagined knowledge while a truer knowing waited.

Does Gary believe every avenue of innovation contends with distributed theft and scams?. Was this true of space exploration?.Or the development of 4K resolution?.Or US public libraries?.Or glass-blowing? . Seems false and maybe denies history. Only some spaces start with fraud.

Ok, last one. Want chills? The entire Hallowe'en sequence is great but if you start with this nod to Psycho you get moved through oboe and horn leads and wind/string/piano runs to the greatest theme intro of all time.

Also, Williams was having timing troubles for the long and frantic kids chase sequence so Spielberg told Williams to just perform his favorite take or idea and then edited the entire sequence around the music. Music first!.

Folks might not remember but the movie's introduction is ominous. John's trying to scare kids a little here. Got a little Swan of Tuonela in it. There's respite in a shimmery chorus of winds and horns but then an Arc of The Covenant bells shock at 2:12.

Can't talk about E.T. without talking about the main theme, right? My favorite incarnation is during the flying sequence.

This section transition from a little Die Moldau nod then climbs into one of my favorite of sweeping melodies ever with 4-5 amazing variations ending on a quiet romantic crush. String runs!.

The strong chromatic motion in this frantic chase melody is a bop. When I was kid I tried to transcribe this unforgettable section of the E.T. soundtrack. Hey, what's that time signature again? .

The greatest living composer today. And yet I'm always confused where his down beat is when he conducts! Is it just me? I'd have to just stare at the score, I think. Wouldn't matter though. He made the E.T. soundtrack. I'm ride or die this music. 4 reasons:.

The great John Williams turns 90 today. 2nd only to Walt Disney in Oscar noms, he once told Spielberg: “‘I really think you need a better composer than I am for this film.’ And he very sweetly said, ‘I know, but they’re all dead.’”. “Jurassic Park” (1993).

Searching how many times craft hobbyists have said "I wish I knew how to quilt you" since 2005. I definitely don't have time for this.

A few older musicians leaving Spotify won't hurt it much now. But many subscriptions are based on a perception of "having ALL the music and pods". So I imagine some future word-of-mouth for new users will go like:. "Well, they don't have EVERYTHING. Apple does though.".
