@educationgovuk As a mother of 2 teenage girls going through the school system I can tell you categorically that another test will not improve reading. It will make reading a chore, will distract teachers from doing their jobs properly and will make some children feel inadequate. Please re-think

@educationgovuk We've known for decades how to teach people to read. Decades. You are never going to find a way to teach reading 30 kids at a time. Some need teaching individually, with no other way round it. All you have to do is pay. Simples.

Yep that’ll do it. Test them even more that’ll get ‘em to engage. Pretty sure SATs testing is the start of the disengagement process, when Reading stops being something joyous. As ever clueless DfE who think putting a measure on something will solve a problem. No vision.
