When you can't quite say everything you want about climate change and our response to it, in the doco, then why not try a "book". Coming in November. Pre-order here:
You know when a teenager creates an atmosphere of such low expectations that you end up congratulating them for the bare minimum, like putting one plate in a dishwasher.
Anyway, so the Nationals have agreed to Net Zero by 2050.
Nothing could piss me off more than this headline. Being ANYONE in Australia gives you license to attack PM. So this must be suggesting that if we give you an award you have to shut up.
PM is right. We won’t achieve net zero in cafes, dinner parties and wine bars.
We should achieve it through our national government.
But it ain’t happening there either.
Here's a stimulus idea - use this time to install solar panels on every public school in Australia. Safe renewable energy, lower bills for schools, which means more money can be put into kids education and lots of jobs for small businesses now.
Morrison just dropped the book authors in it. Said he told them contemporaneously. So they kept it from their publications and the Australian public for years. Why? For their book?
The Twitter response to something can make it seem worse than it is when you finally see it.
But in the Milkshake Consent video’s case, nothing you lot said prepared me for how bad it actually is.
I just want a conversation about nuclear.
OK. It’s way more expensive than the alternatives, slower to build and no one wants it in their backyard.
No, I want a different conversation.
I don't mind Senator McKenzie disliking the approach of Fight for Planet A, but I do have a problem with her assertion that the show was "factually incorrect". Especially given that her attached press release does not point to any factual inaccuracies that were in the show
JobKeeper was designed to reduce inequality. But some firms are using taxpayer money to pay massive executive bonuses. In 90 seconds, I listed the worst offenders

This show was a genuine experiment. We had no idea what difference we could make. And no budget to help the change. Absolute credit to all our households for their amazing effort and .... incredible results. Inspirational.

The take $20,000 from super now policy is just forcing vulnerable people to take out money at the bottom of the market. If the govt does their job no one should be forced to do this.
When interest rates went up “not only do we pay more to the banks for our mortgages, but the Reserve Bank, that we own, also forks out an extra billion dollars to them as well”
I have not been able to stop thinking about this

piece.
"It'll start getting cooler, you just watch." - President Trump.
"I wish science agreed with you" - CA Natural Resources Secretary.
"I don't think science knows actually."- President Trump.

The Great Barrier Reef is such an emotional roller coaster. So much beauty, but so much destroyed. The only way we can save it is for the world to reduce emissions. Now.
#FightForPlanetA
This is so disheartening.
This is your money. Lots of it.
More emissions than so many alternatives. Not needed according to experts. Will make electricity more expensive.
It’s decisions that make this little sense that make you think about donations.
The funny thing about these proposed laws, is that from my reading most anonymous trolls seem to be right wing. Not saying there aren’t left wing trolls. They just seem more inclined to use their names.
This is insane
@Coles
The only good part of this was the 15c charge, which would change people’s behavior over time. Without it you have ONLY brought in thicker plastic bags.
Former Prime Minister of Norway and current NATO chief

Donald Trump’s exhausted trudge from Marine One toward the White House after his botched rally in Tulsa, his red tie undone, a grim look on his face, a crumpled MAGA hat in his hand, is now an iconic image of his presidency.

The Australien Government wasn't allowed to speak at the latest Climate Summit – so it made an ad about its climate policy instead, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative.

Hang on? Is this why uranium shares going nuts? Coz we’re getting nuclear subs and that requires more nuclear industry? Was there insider knowledge or coincidence?
So here’s what I’ve been doing the last few years with the talented and lovely
@ChristiaanVanV
and a team of great people. Diving into the world of political influence. Was an emotional roller coaster ride looking at where our democracy is heading.
Dear friends, today marks another milestone for Nades, Priya, Kopika and Tharnicaa. Today it is 1000 days since this beautiful family was snatched from their home in Biloela in a dawn raid by Mr Dutton's Australian Border Force.
I want to thank all the families/households who were willing to take part in
#FightForPlanetA
. Their generosity and willingness to be honest and experiment is what made this show possible.
Haha. Izzy was a random person in the street. We didn’t know her and she didn’t know we were filming. Total con incidence. Was filmed before protest. Why would we exclude her? “Sorry 13 year old girl, you know and care too much!”
- AEMO? More gas generation not needed
- CSIRO? Gas generation = expensive electricity
- Economists? Gas extraction creates very few jobs
- Scientists? Gas incompatible with our Paris goals
- Investors? Gas has bad returns. No $.
Politicians? <Ignore experts> MORE GAS!
🤦🏻♂️
I sincerely hope The Checkout can return. Understand budgetary problems but we have several thousand tip offs from viewers we’re still getting through and it was such a great team to work with. Proud of all we achieved.
If we didn’t have this kind of idiocy, people could be driving electric utes in Western Sydney and massively reducing the cost of fuel to their business. Tradies travel so much they have more to gain.
Liberal MP
@CraigKellyMP
says without an electric vehicle tax, someone who drives a Ute in Western Sydney would end up subsiding for someone “paying $100,000 for a Tesla” and driving it around the inner-city suburbs of Sydney.

OMFG!!! Climate change isn’t debatable. Actually hoping Australia is actually a bit ahead of the US now on this point (at least until someone offers Craig Kelly a seat on the High Court).
Surely this can’t pass??
Currently CEFC can’t invest in loss making or fossil fuel projects. Proposed changes would see both rules reversed so we can... lose money on gas?
Weird. I post a tweet, it flashes up on my timeline and immediately vanishes. It’s there in my personal feed but invisible to me otherwise. Has been happening for a while. Anyone know if that’s normal?
Nuclear is great for CO2. But few questions to answer.
1) why choose it if it is more expensive than renewables?
2) why choose it if way slower to implement than renewables?
3) which politician wants it in their electorate?
4) are their enough 50-70 year old engineer voters?
I’ve written to the Prime Minister asking him to consider nuclear power as part of our energy mix.
Can we make it safe, affordable and reliable in Australia?
We need to have this conversation and if opportunities exist—back ourselves.
