This is real and urgent. Irma is one of my dearest friends and the cost of medical transportation during a war is astronomical.

A Chicago couple was expecting twins in April via a surrogate in Kyiv. Instead, the boys came Feb. 25 — more than 7 wks premature. Now they’re racing to find a medical transport to get their newborns to safety. My latest:

🧵I never thought I'd ask for money on behalf of an institution that put me in debt & is currently where my paycheck FROM THEM goes right back to THEM. But as an alum and current faculty member, I know how lifechanging @TheatreSchool at DePaul can be.

Just wanted to remind us that this Mayor talking about mental health was the same one that fought teachers and had them strike in the winter in order to get urgently needed social workers & nurses in schools. Thank you @CTULocal1. We stand with you.

Just a reminder, the @CTULocal1 said they’d teach, but remotely. It was @ChiPubSchools that canceled school.

Parents want to thank the @CTULocal1 for taking a stance that is not easy for anyone. Risking everything to bring awareness to what is going on in the schools. Putting a stop to CPS and the injustice our children, teachers, and parents are faced with. #OurFight #Solidarity ✊🏽

Going remote for a few days is not school closure. Wearing a higher quality mask is not lockdown. Giving people access to free tests is not shutting down the economy. Can we acknowledge that there is something between doing nothing and returning to spring 2020? Then do it?

Wow. CPS really counting on us all being yahoos who don’t read any other news in their messaging about today. How sad that the people in charge of Chicago’s public education don’t educate. They just hammer with no nuance.

Think it is really important to stress that teachers want to teach remotely; CPS made the decision to cancel school.

The results of tonight's citywide electronic ballot are in. Starting tomorrow, all CTU members at CPS schools should be working remotely. The result of tonight's vote was 73 percent in favor of the remote-work-only job action.

The thing about being a CPS parent is getting to white-knuckle your way through some massive self-made crisis where the city insists they're in charge of schools without actually taking responsibility for jack shit. Then you get to do it again. And again.
