“(not even an exaggeration)” yes, it very literally it is, nobody has this exact data but Grok’s estimates in the comments based off one piece of 2016 data are like 52%

incredible to just pull a number completely out of your ass for a theory that doesn’t even make sense (to what end would this even serve?) as opposed to the Occam’s Razor of “politician with good retail skills panders to small businesses”
I'm actually shocked by the number of people falling for this who think Zohran is doing this because he's pragmatic or thoughtful and not because 90+% of small businesses in New York are run by Muslims (not even an exaggeration)

there’s no guarantee any politician is going to govern the way they campaigned but like, Zohran very much talked about this during the campaign, it shouldn’t have been unexpected

not a single college-educated person sounds natural using the word “retarded”. I grew up around people who did, none of them currently know who Hegel or Piketty or Mishima is. you all sound like children trying out a bad word for the first time, every single time.

what really gets me about the “actually she’s annoying because she’s the foil to Walt’s schemes” is not just that it’s not even really an accurate description of her character past like Season 3 but that nobody says that about, like, Hank
so weird how this only seems to happen to female characters, they’re just so neutrally “annoying” and that reaction can’t ever be examined any further

Why do people dislike my character on “Breaking Bad”?

I’m not sure if people remember 2013 but chuds on Facebook were still like “man what a bitch” well into Season 5, after she had developed story arcs and sympathies of her own

this has become the sort of post-woke enlightened position recently but Anna Gunn said she expected to be hated early on for this exact reason; the problem is fans were still vitriolic to not only Skylar but Gunn herself long after Skylar was no longer solely an obstacle to Walt
I cannot stress enough how everyone, including the creator of the show, still fails to grasp that the audience naturally does not like the Good Person character who's waving a frying pan and yelling at the main character to stop getting into adventures

maybe i'm just believing the hype but i have no problem with this. One of the worst things that could happen to the current socialist moment in the US is a failed Mamdani mayorship. Do whatever it takes to get the engine going before you start making turns
Basically: when Zohran said time and time again that his sole and only priority was making New York City more affordable under his tenure, we probably should have listened to him. He might not have been lying.

some of the best meals of I’ve ever had have been accompanied by the worst music imaginable, like I’ll be eating the steak of a lifetime in Italy or having unbelievable Uzbek food in Brooklyn and the speakers will be piping in a lounge jazz version of “Smells Like Teen Spirit”

this always would’ve been an insane thing to say pretty much any time after the end of WWII but it’s a particularly insane thing to say now

crazymaking that this term used to refer to “cutting taxes for the wealthy so that their investment would boost economic growth better than the taxes would accomplish” and is now attached to “building more of something there’s a dearth of will bring the cost down”

He did state them, though — people just didn’t listen. Does nobody remember when folks insisted Mamdani was lying about his housing policy — that it was a kind of “identity politics” feint for college-educated voters — rather than concluding they simply disagreed with him?
The online revolt against Zohran doesn’t represent anything real at all politically (everyone to the left of Joe Manchin LOVES him in polling) but it might speak to some future problems with his strategy of doing all of his centrist pivots bluntly and completely unstated.
