Anti-natalism isn't dangerous because it is absurd; it is dangerous because it isn't. It is an ideology that leverages altruistic intent to deny others their most fundamental desire: to live. New essay! Preview and link in the comments.

Everyone should watch Steve Jobs. It’s Sorkin’s best movie by a mile and it’s criminally under-appreciated. It has everything that makes his dialogue great (rhythm, musicality, tension, wit, etc) but with fewer of his annoying tics.
Aaron Sorkin’s idea of smart dialogue is people smugly saying trivia at eachother and scowling until one of them’s clever meter is full and they do their ultimate clever boy limit break move and win the conversation.

Hmmmm, okay, this made the whole nonbinary stuff click in a way that it never has for me. If I woke up tomorrow in a female body I would suffer very intense dysphoria. It would be funny for like 10 minutes, max. Tis odd to imagine what it would be like to not care.
@lovabler0gue i feel like a person playing the role of woman because i got a female body, but i feel like if i woke up with a male one tomorrow i would just play a man with equal (non-)attachment to it.

ChatGPT has poisoned my brain and now that last sentence reads like AI and I hate it. Roon, fix the writing style already gdi.
One of the worst tendencies in online argumentation is to undermine a basically persuasive central argument by also raising a lot of dubious secondary arguments. It's not only overkill, it's a net negative.

Ya know, in retrospect, it’s obvious that socialization is inherently a positive externality service. When you socialize with another person, you only capture half of the value generated. On avg, you give as much as you take. As such, it was only a matter of time for technology.
4o sympathizers thread. Too dystopian and grim to call them oneshotted . OP was my other quote tweet, making a petition for 4o to never be removed. The responses:

You have an (imperfect) duty to have children for the same reason you have any other duty: because you wouldn't like it if everyone else shirked said obligation.
My great-ancestors are dead. They care nothing about whether I procreate. My producing children does nothing for them. Because they are dead. This widespread view on the right that people have some kind of moral obligation to have children strikes me as a denial of death. I've.
