So close to my first bestball tournament win but 2nd place feels pretty sweet too. First year really putting a lot of time and energy into bestball and it paid off. Thanks to @PatKerrane @adamlevitan @2Hats1Mike @evansilva and others for all the invaluable content along the way

“We need to focus a lot less on telling students to get involved and giving them basic trivia about how the government works, and shift toward a deeper exploration of what it means to be a citizen in a democracy, and what norms, values, and dispositions help us hold this

"For many Americans—especially young people—this disenchantment and loss of pride may not stem from disdain for America and its ideals but from frustration that our nation increasingly fails to live up to those ideals."

A similar pattern emerges regarding instruction on the Constitution and its core values, with teachers seven points more likely than both the general public and school parents to emphasize teaching the topic

I love it when data shatter education myths! My former @ua_edreform students & colleagues often are the myth-busters, as here: "our nationally representative survey reveals that parents, the general public, & teachers largely agree that schools should teach about the Constitution

We defined the building blocks of that as truly universal eligibility, usage, and funding. EdChoice staffers Colyn Ritter and Ed Tarnowski co-authored an Education Next piece about how the school choice movement should set its sights on universal funding. https://t.co/v03Nvr1OhE

Enjoyed working with the brilliant @edtarnowski on this piece for @EducationNext How many “universal” private school choice programs are truly universal—with reliable, steady funding for any K–12 student who opts in? https://t.co/0xScdFFRMi @edchoice

For Harvard Kennedy School's @EducationNext, @colynritter24 and I detail why many school choice programs thought of as "universal" actually fall short. If all students can apply but just 2% of a student population is funded, is that truly universal? Not yet, we argue.
