Off Twitter until the oligarch no longer owns it. You can always find me at https://t.co/oLttW4OJ5c

I've been thinking about leaving Twitter for a while now. I find it draining, and I'm too busy to put in the effort that it requires. The oligarch taking over was the final straw. You can always contact me at

OpenNotes puts patient agency at the center of our work. Denying patients the basic human right to make their own care decisions is fundamentally at odds with our movement. Healthcare decisions belong in the hands of patients and the people who care for them.
"At the heart of the OpenNotes movement is the belief that patients, informed by their health information and open communication, have the right to make decisions about their care in partnership with clinicians..." —Catherine M. DesRoches, DrPH

This is so disappointing - worked on this issue years ago - sad to see it rearing its head again in my own backyard.

Great work here by @lfernandezi on the opportunity that #opennotes offers to develop partnerships with patients.
Words Matter. More patients are reading their notes (aka #opennotes). Clinicians wonder: What do patients find judgmental OR offensive in their notes? This #medthread is an overview of what we learned. Read the full paper in @JournalGIM: https://t.co/TM0QZNwGF8

Estonia is my favorite example of data transparency in health care! Right, @TheLizArmy?
Sat next to a Swedish colleague in BC in 2003 while she connected with her EMR in Stockholm using cell phone. ALL HER DATA was available digitally incl her kids. Estonian citizens have had full access since 2005!! Delay is political NOT technol. @Infoway @celliottability

This is disappointing but not surprising. A truly functional patient-centered portal is a low priority for vendors - they don't see patients as customers. @emrdoc1 @ctlin1 @trentrosenbloom
“..has no plans to optimize its patient portal, MyChart. Specifically, Epic would not reprogram the patient portal to allow patients the option to customize notifications for specific medical details, such as test results.” 👀 #informationblocking

Relatable...I once had a friend tell me that I’m kind but not nice enough to live on the West Coast.
When I describe East Coast vs West Coast culture to my friends I often say "The East Coast is kind but not nice, the West Coast is nice but not kind," and East Coasters immediately get it. West Coasters get mad. 😂😂😂

This is great news! Congratulations @mickytripathi1! So well deserved. I'm looking forward to seeing you in action in your new role.
Many congrats to @mickytripathi1 for taking on the @ONC_HealthIT role. A true leader that takes a standards-first approach and has built provider-vendor partnership to improve patient care.

I can vouch that for our health system, going from sharing 3% to 99% of our notes- it was indeed wholesome and innocuous.
🤣🤣🤣 My new favorite way #opennotes has been explained as part of the @HHSGov/@ONC_HealthIT information sharing mandate: "wholesome and innocuous" 💁♀️ Source: https://t.co/cUq0W8Lf73
