As I’ve been saying for the last 45 years ‘Childhood lasts a lifetime’ so society needs focus on every aspect of a child’s wellbeing, even before they are born, to ensure children grow up confident, happy, loved and valued @TheIFS @PeepleCentre ❤️
Quality support for families in the early years => better outcomes throughout childhood. More evidence from @TheIFS that Sure Start - offering ante/post-natal health services, parenting support, early learning & childcare, & parental employment support - made a real difference⬇️

Imagine if we all started with: - the person - the child - their family - their community rather than a myriad of silo services we organise ourselves on; addressing need based on “eligibility criteria” rather than living a good healthy life. Public services need reset & reform
Huge financial pressure on public services but some cuts can actually create even more demand & increased cost. Real wasted cost often lies in the gaps between the fragmentation of silo public services, repeated assessment & referrals but untangling this mess is rarely attempted

At the end of a working day, when we shut down the tabs on all of our devices, we should shut down the tabs in our heads too. Five ways to do this: 1) Savour an indulgence 2) Mindful breathing 3) Share a compliment 4) Get some fresh, outdoor air 5) Practice gratitude

This is really important to understand the current state of play for OTs working with children in the UK. I hope you can find time to complete the survey.

Love the F-Words in Childhood Disability https://t.co/s8F5oT3FvA
A lovely start to the day on the @RCOT_CYPF F Words workshop follow up with @LucyCha98129242 & Arul reflecting on our use of the tools. Lots of discussion about how using the tools help shift families away from a deficit focus and gain rich, meaningful information 👏🏻

Showing the importance of having a continuous conversation rather than a one-off consultation - there's always something new we can learn from children and young people! Thank you @Creative_Voices and @OfficialSYP!
Earlier today we took evidence on amendments to the UNCRC Bill ahead of the Bill's reconsideration by @ScotParl. @Ulgrid from @together_sacr told us what children and young people had told her about rights ⬇

Many of us give up on our hopes, dreams and ambitions. We put ourselves down, let imposter syndrome creep in and self doubt takes over Here’s your call to keep going, one small step at a time, never give up & try again, you will get there 🐠

What stops health & care systems being bold & a radical new approach? We know the current deficit model is stretched & broken & yet there are few making a wholesale shift to a community, preventative model. Met with members of the Rebel Alliance making change happen @drandyknox
