Documenting drivers behaving badly in 'Britain's best city for cyclists' (Komoot, 2020) .
Cardiff, Wales
Joined October 2017
Yeah, all the ppl wishing injury & death on cyclists ('nonces', 'weirdos', 'benders') are just having a laugh. Until they're not. Cyclists are like football fans in the 80s - collectively blamed, denied safe infrastructure, vilified when they die.

Just some of the buildings flattened to build the Gabalfa Interchange/Flyover. Not to mention 100+ homes destroyed for benefit of drivers Makes the "war on cars" & online vitriol whenever improvements are proposed to improve streets for people outside of cars look a bit silly...

In W Sussex. Cycled #SalternsWay to the Witterings & back. On the B roads, 9 out of 10 drivers fine. Why 1 driver in 10 leave fuck all space overtaking us? What's the issue, when everyone else is perfectly competent?

Across Cardiff, in four different directions, bike is quicker than car and public transport (as well as being a hell of a lot cheaper and waayyy more pleasant - even taking into account the small minority of dickhead drivers). https://t.co/it2wZITC4i

In the car earlier, doing 30mph in the 30 zone on Llanedeyrn Rd. Driver behind overtakes me doing 40 to then sit on bumper of car 20 yds in front of me before turning right after about 100 yds. Most inexplicable bit of driving I've ever seen 🤪

Good to hear this cyclist appears to be OK. I just cycled to Leckwith & back. As always, the protected bike lanes really help . Where there are none, speeding and close passing of cyclists remains too common despite most motorists being fine.
A cyclist has just been knocked off their bike by an SUV on Ninian Road. They're up and calling the police, so hopefully they're okay. As a city, we are not cycle friendly. Motorists must do better.

Who's right, @AndyCoxDCS? @GoSafeCymru or @markandcharlie? Should #OpSnap be confirming to submitters exactly what outcome (letter, course, points/fine) has resulted from a close pass report? Or is stating 'positive action taken' enough to comply with @PoliceChiefs rules?
Morning @GoSafeCymru . What do you and @SWPolice say to this comment from one of the originators of #OpSnap, who says your #OpSnap procedures go against the recommendations of @PoliceChiefs ? Tagging in @EmmaWoolsPCC, who is responsible for police accountability in S Wales.

You can count on the fact that the same individuals who argue for 'Cyclists needing number plates, insurance, registration, and compulsory testing' will argue against a speed limiter in your car as a nanny state. https://t.co/WNgZCwgC3u

All new cars must have the devices from 7 July, adding fuel economy as well as safety. Will mpg become the new mph?

#OpSnap confirm 'positive action taken'. What action has been taken is *not* specified. This doesn't follow @PoliceChiefs recommendations on, as confirmed to me ⬇️ by one of the originators of #OpSnap. Comment pls @GoSafeCymru @SWPolice ? https://t.co/eDMFBtZswe
Close passes are decreasing in my neck of the woods and have been for a while. But Whitchurch Rd is still shitty. #OpSnap

The moment we've all been waiting for Mark Harper, the man who has perpetuated hate towards so many cyclists across the country, has lost his seat Savour it
Mark Harper loses his seat in the Forest of Dean to Labour - by a very small margin. #GeneralElection2024

@GoSafeCymru does your outcome update procedure align with the instructions from Kyle Gordon? https://t.co/mNV5YULdFp

And there we have it. @gosafecymru refusal to proved #OpSnap submitters with details of outcomes deemed in direct conflict with the national guidelines on 3rd party reporting from @PoliceChiefs , despite their continued protestations to the contrary.

So, @AndyCoxDCS @PoliceChiefs does refusing to give to #OpSnap submitters specific details of what action is being taken (i.e. warning letter or course or court) align with @PoliceChiefs guidelines on 3rd party reporting, or not? What's the definitive answer? @markandcharlie
@closepassescdf @swpolice @nottspolice Hi, we work closely with the NPCC and our current witness updates align with their recommendations and those of the ICO and our force legal departments. Op Snap isn't suitable for victims and any submitters identified as a victim will be referred to the relevant police force.

In case ⬆️ends up getting traction among shitheads, -the lane is 3.7m wide -the 2.07m wide van is entirely within my lane (Renault Master) -My left bars are about .6m away from the kerb and my bars are .65m wide. Work out for yrselves how much passing space that leaves.
