I think all shows should have to perform for a solid 24 hours at the very end of their run. I want to see David Tennant get through Macbeth twelve times. I want avant garde durational Mousetrap. I want to watch the cast of @mincemeatlive descend further and further into madness.

And the skill of Ruth Wilson… her power on the stage. We saw an incredible range of emotions and expressions she was able to summon and to work with. We fell in love with her 100 times.

The Tories kicked off an open consultation (see link below) on reforming retained EU employment law. Deadline: 7 July. Please spread the word! The guidance provided is extremely rose-tinted. I'll highlight some key issues in the rest of this thread. https://t.co/zbL2BkLD5B

1/ Yesterday there was a fascinating session of the @HLHorticulture committee looking at exploitation on the UK's seasonal worker visa scheme. There were some shocking revelations, which you probably missed because it got ZERO press coverage. So here is a 🧵 with some highlights.

Doubtless you've heard that "we all get the same 24 hours in the day." Of course it's not true: rich people and poor people experience very different demands on their time. 1/

Feeling slightly weird shouting about it at this current moment, but also I've worked hard to reach this point: after a fair few years of casual and fixed term contracts, I'm now permanent at Central as a Lecturer in Popular and Queer Performance.

There is absolutely no chance of me having the focus to read a book tonight, which I'd much rather be doing, so let's do a little explainer on devolution, Section 35, and UK trans law! Mostly got an international audience in mind for this, but maybe that includes England, lol.

I just read -- in the book SEE WHAT YOU MADE ME DO by Jess Hill -- about the incident in Stockholm for which Stockholm Syndrome is named, and I am royally pissed off on behalf of all women, buckle up.

How to destroy the NHS: Step 1. Run it into the ground with austerity. Step 2. Exploit the crisis to empower the private sector. Step 3. Abolish the principle of universal health care. End privatisation, support striking workers and save our NHS.

For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help. I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).

So while folk are struggling to survive Sunak changed the ministerial code to allow frontbenchers to be driven home to their constituencies wherever in the UK at public expense. No need for them to struggle with the rail system they’ve collapsed, they get a private limo on us.

(Thread)
