Such a sadness. In Our Time is a magnificently wide-ranging, informative and accessible exploration of human expression and knowledge—a mighty justification of public service broadcasting. Through it, Melvyn Bragg is among the most influential people on my inner life as an adult.

There's nothing unique I can say about David Lynch, but his death is a great sadness to me. He was an artist of unimpeachable integrity, a particularly extraordinary achievement in commercial media like film and television. His body of work is strange and primeval and beautiful.

The podcast "Where Are You Going?" is a wonderful slice of life anthology—highly recommended. @CatherineECarr simply asks strangers worldwide where they're going. Episodes are invariably charming, often fascinating, and consistently brief, which is a rare and welcome combination.

I miss the Talking Politics podcast deeply, and am very pleased to see David Runciman return to podcasts. To be honest, I think I'm relieved it's less expressly driven by current events; we've already got plenty of those (the current events themselves, and podcasts about them).

Streaming music services have always been terrible for browsing classical music; it's clearly never been a priority. But Apple Music's new dedicated Classical app is great! And it has a nice classical music introductory series to boot. I've subscribed to Apple Music as a result.

This realisation (broad and inexpert as it is in my case) has been the single most important addition to my conception of politics in recent years. Voices like those of @HelenHet20 and @adam_tooze (RIP Talking Politics Podcast) have been essential in informing that understanding.
This is going to be normal politics until politicians realise that crisis not growth is the new norm and that the world’s realities are shattering the platitudes of partisan politics and career ambition at an ever more rapid pace.
