If you want to play a fun game, ask people in the know to describe the fiscal state of Muni. You’ll get a sharp inhale. An “incredibly dire.” An “extremely concerning.” Maybe even a “clusterfuck” or two. https://t.co/Xquk2caK2d

The agency’s fiscal outlook darkened in the past week with the failure of Proposition L, which would have taxed rideshare services to generate an estimated $25 million annually for transit. https://t.co/3Vcu5VICfb

As the eviction moratorium (which @DeanPreston helped extend) was being lifted, my mother in law, who was a house cleaner, was being kicked out of her long-time home. Dean had organized regular eviction clinics to help people + helped us get a lawyer.
in 2020 i emailed supervisor @DeanPreston (we had never met) about bus lines in our district that had been suspended. right away he got on a call with me, and became the strongest fighter on the board for restoring bus lines. he inspired me to get involved in local politics.

dean made 100s of bus stops accessible, forced the mayor's hand to make muni free for youth, and was the first supe to support the muni funding measure i worked on. i'm grateful for him. he stood his ground on issues he ran on, and massive $ was spent against him because of that

Thanks to @MLNow for covering some of our wonderful volunteers who have never campaigned before! '“I can’t put into words how much this has made me feel like people can create change,” Morgan said.' Everyone is out here putting in the work to fund the bus!

Amid the onslaught of granular election news, it's easy to forget that many San Franciscans have become politically active for the first time.

Happy Halloween 🎃 👻 Here's a spooky story for you: Muni is facing service cuts as early as next year, which means longer waits for buses and trains, fewer hours of service, and whole lines cut 🪓 ‼️ Vote Yes on L to save up to twelve bus lines now!

A great @sfstandard article on how Prop L has activated new advocates and activists, and a Muni operator's vision on how sufficient funding drastically changes the quality of service. Vote Yes on L for the @sftransitact on your San Francisco ballot! https://t.co/7NqpsEyiSU

San Francisco voters could slap a tax on ride-hail companies like Uber and Lyft to fund the city's Muni system, which is facing a huge deficit and the possibility of service cuts.
