Chris Pronger weighs in on Matvei Michkov and a Flyers rebuild that’s been going on ‘for what seems like 12 years’

One thing that has been so notable about @NHLFlyers at 5v5 this season? Zegras Michkov are ONLY fwds who attempt passes into the slot when outside. Barkey+TK sometimes do as well I guess, but between Zegras+Michkov probably have HALF team attempts between them. #Flyers

Another thing watching more+more @NHLFlyers tape as season goes on... OZ retrievals in dump heavy system? Tippett is only "high end" retriever for the #Flyers. TK, Zegras and Michkov are solid... But in the bottom six? Grundstrom might be the only guy who is solid. #NHL

#Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen scored one of the biggest goals in Finnish hockey history — “Sometimes I used to make plays and play a little offense,” he said with a chuckle — and after a 10-year gap, he's back representing Finland at the Olympics https://t.co/aM1xO8eA9v
inquirer.com
Mostly because of injuries, Ristolainen has not played for his national team since 2016. The Finns are the defending Olympic gold medalists.

Pronger on Chiclets “Philly fans are highly passionate you found that out Biz. Since 2012 they had a few good years & then they have been in what they call a “rebuild” for 12 years. They’re frustrated bc they haven’t done the rebuild properly, they keep trying to fast track it.”

What has been the biggest concern at the break? How about a reason for hope? @ashlynrsullivan and @JHallNBCS discuss the state of the team on the Flyers Talk podcast.

Everybody liked Pebs around here. The A was a part of that. #LetsGoFlyers
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare might be one of the classiest people I've been around in the NHL. Really happy for him to get to live his dream of playing for France at the Olympics.

60 years ago today ON THIS DAY in hockey history (February 9, 1966): The NHL announces 6 expansion franchises aka the "Second Six" set to join the league for the 1967/68 season: Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and St. Louis

7 years later, @NHLFlyers became the first expansion team to win the Cup. Then they won it again in 1975. Easy peasy. Or so it seemed. 51 years later, they are still looking for Cup III. It still stuns me.

Everyone get your history nerd hats on! A little article on how, 60 years ago, NHL hockey returned to Philadelphia. (RIP to the Philadelphia Quakers.) Additionally, what has been your favorite moment in Flyers history? https://t.co/ouNN08Hnxm
thehockeynews.com
On February 9, 1966, the NHL did something it had resisted for a generation: it admitted the world was changing, and that hockey needed to change with it.

Of course, Rasmus Ristolainen's trade interest and value is low. He has trouble staying healthy. Maybe if he is healthy following the Olympics, and right before the trade deadline. Maybe the Flyers would have significant trade value with him. But, he has to prove it FIRST

Probably not a whole lot barring injury/trade. I also think Bump should be a trade candidate to get a defenseman like Byram.
@jasonmyrt @ADiMarco25 @Stick2HockeyPod What is the likelihood of prospects like Bump or Bonk getting a call up in final 1/3 of the season.
