Tbh redemption can mean many things. It’s not a definitive Sephiroth turns into an anti hero.
Redemption can be thru understanding and forgiveness from the player/hero proactively and not bc the villain asking for it. It can be thru death and rebirth.
Necklace kicking aside… the first chapter of EC is really good, and does start to plant the seeds of a really good explanation for Sephiroth’s very dark “eternal dollhouse” nightmare. It’s weird anyone sees this as a redemption though lol.
