Loveless mentions that "one flies away," "one is captured," and "one becomes a hero." CCFF7's devs say that if we look at Angeal, who takes to the sky, and Genesis, who becomes a prisoner, this interpretation connects to the words Zack utters at the end of the game. (CCCG, 2008)

in the FFXUO Kitase says there was a brief period where he and Nojima talked about maybe making a sequel to FF7. It was half in jest but the ending leaves a lot up in the air. We never find out what happened after Holy—there aren’t any epilogue-type episodes or anything. [1/3]

Naoki Hamaguchi thinks it's fated how the OG FF7 was the turning point from FF being on Nintendo hardware. He says it's really fateful and interesting that FF7, the very same game, in a lot ways, the remake, is now leading the way on the new change. (GamesRadar, 11/10)
