What does it mean to be an evolutionary biologist? We tackle this topic in a short film that is part of the broader impacts work we are doing for K-12 science classrooms for our @NSF_Bio grant. Film by @Marita_Davison, Jen Moslemi, @CaravanLab.

Excited to share the published version (out now in @PLOSGenetics) of the introductory review that I wrote with Mike Grundler and @gbradburd about ancestral recombination graphs!

Genomic data filtering consequences can be truly scary ๐ป๐ฟ๐ (just in time for Halloween) ๐๐ป
One of the biggest (scary) eye-openers to me from this project was seeing just how much our trees differed with relatively small changes in filtering parameters, like in the comparison shown here between two trees inferred from datasets that only differed in minor allele filters

In this new paper we show how cycles of speciation and hybridization have facilitated exceptionally fast adaptive radiations of cichlid fish into hundreds of species across four trophic kevels in just 16โ000 years. โฆ@joana_meierโฉ

This was such a fun working group to be part of! ๐ Great to have this out.
Conceptual and empirical bridges between micro- and macroevolution. Jonathan Rolland convened a working group in the before-times, when it was normal to sit in a room full of people w/o masks or rapid-tests and talk about things. Now out at @natureecoevo

With some outside-the-box thinking, funding agencies could be doing so much more to support gender equity in science: https://t.co/dt062negXm
