My company gave me a huge load of aluminum scrap to take home, mostly 6061. I ordered some ferrosilicon so I can melt down the 6061, add silicon, and turn them in to A380. I can then use A380 to Cast AR15 receivers later.

My first try on casting lead using Mold Max 60 high temperature silicone. A positive model is 3d printed, and silicone is poured to it to creation the negative mold (cavities). Molten lead then can be poured and take on the form of the 3d printed parts, in this case, 9mm bullets.

Home brew silicon bronze was a huge success!
More silicon bronze lost PLA casting. I finally have the process mostly figured out now. Ferrosilicon nuggets are coming in this Wednesday and I will soon be able to make my own silicon bronze using scrap copper I collected from my job. Commercial bronze Alloy C873 is expensive.
