Which bit of this makes the EU sound like a democratic success story?
Ireland voting against #Mercosur is bad politics in Brussels for no political gain at home. Its a vote that sabotages our national interest on trade, undermines our credibility in EU and makes leaders look like followers.

Been paid off 3 days before Christmas holidays due to there not being enough work after the year. Full qualified floor layer with 9 years experience, if anyone knows of any flooring companies taking on. Failing that, happy to do absolutely anything. RTs appreciated

It’s a tall order expecting Rachel Reeves to predict her future given her appalling track record at predicting her past.
Does anyone believe a word Reeves says? Where her speech wasn’t word salad about the past not predicting the future (was she reading it off an advert for an investment company?) she was telling untruths. No clarity, no vision, no plan and no clue. She really should return

Today saw electoral history in Ireland with a record shattering protest vote in the form of spoiled ballots. There was a very good ground campaign in some areas and hats off to those brilliant people that did them. However, it’s important to say that without @X, the opportunity

Come on old Fianna Fáil, rise up, your nation needs you, tonight, and in the morning. #MariaSteenForPresident

Lewis is right that 100% inheritance tax is an old idea. It goes back to feudal times.
Another example here of much higher inheritance taxes being an old, not new idea. Andrew Carnegie, the world's richest man in the 19th century: “Of all forms of taxation, this seems the wisest. Men who continue hoarding great sums all their lives… would be compelled to

If you like people that make you think, rather than say what you think @nntaleb has to be on your short list.
The fact is, I do befriend, engage and socialize with people who disagree with me on central issues —but only with those who are civilized.
