A fantastic gesture. But unless his French breeder / former owner Cathrine Villared was a British boxing fan in the early 2000’s, I doubt Hitman was ‘named after’ Ricky Hatton…
Hitman, who was named after Ricky Hatton, won at Aintree in his first race since the legendary boxer's death 🥹 The owners have confirmed the winnings from today will go to the Ricky Hatton Foundation 👏

He wasn't named after Ricky Hatton. He was bought from France by Nichols where he'd run 3 times for Mcaire. Luke Harvey making that suggestion on @itvracing was embarrasing and suggested a serious lack of knowledge and homework.

3 years ago this beast of a horse won the #oldroanchase his second success for us @AintreeRaces together with 2 wins @Ascot including the Grade 1 #ascotchase some purchase for £50k when you look at what these mugs are paying in todays market. Great days!!

Happy Old Roan Chase Day! Given we've just had 2 £100k Class 2 handicaps at Cheltenham, it would help the pattern if the Gr2 handicaps were for more not less (£80k) Waiting to see how much rain falls but if ground doesn't change much I'll be backing Master Chewy at around 4/1

@carlhinchy I'm no snob but Saturday crowds are notorious for being o t t. I've been to York 3 times this year, the Wednesday of both the Dante and Ebor festival, superb well behaved and enjoying a drink. In-between I did the Saturday at the end of June. Out of control drunks by race 2.

@carlhinchy @VaughanLewis1 Been highlight of my year for decade and a half..went to the fez the year binocular won his CH..few hundred Sterling went a long way then, granted inflation etc but feels like you'd need 3 or 4k now for a couple of days..can't afford it
