As promised, here is Bridgeway’s latest research paper on ISCAP/ADF’s ideology and especially on how its Islamic State identity is wholly embraced and adopted for a very local context in #Congo and #Uganda. Based on our extensive fieldwork.

I know that Rufo has no knowledge of African history besides what he’s seen in YouTube videos, but no, the Somali people do not “only know piracy”
It’s also perfectly reasonable to note that Italian and Somali civilization are different, and one might offer more potential than the other. Italians produced Rome, the Church, the Renaissance, the discovery of the New World, and some of the finest architecture, painting,

Keep in mind that Rufo, a mega racist, is himself married to an illegal immigrant. Peak hypocrisy
This is ludicrous. "A population of <100,000" did not steal anything. Some members of the Somali community did. It's especially egregious for the son of an Italian immigrant to talk like this, since this is the rhetoric nativists used to condemn Italians as all criminals.

In the early 1900s, there was such a massive naturalization fraud scandal with Italian immigrants in St. Louis that it caused the national government to further mandate literacy testing. (Chris Rufo is of Italian descent)
@MazMHussain @ggreenwald Not really, because immigration is a group-level question and, therefore, we have to make group-level analyses. Massive rates of welfare fraud—a form of liberal benefit-state piracy—are fair to take into consideration for which national populations we let into our country.

This is all an estimate, AFRICOM hardly provides exact figures anymore. So keep that in mind, but either way 2025 has been a record year for US strikes in Somalia.

Based on my count, the US has conducted at least 103 (give or take) strikes against both IS Somalia and Shabaab so far this year in #Somalia, by the far the most in any year since 2007. 61 strikes have targeted IS, 41 against Shabaab, and 1 against "arms smugglers."

ISCAP's Abuwakas is again on a rampage in North Kivu's Lubero territory #DRC, with his camp killing at least 89 people in recent days, including many at a health center.

In the same speech, Nicki Minaj spoke about the targeting of Nigerian Christians and claimed to care, yet she also plugged herself and even laughed. That’s how seriously they take our lives.

Yeah dude is just trying to incite violence against Somalis, what a piece of shit
@SpeakerJohnson Mass deportations now. Send Little Mogadishu back to Big Mogadishu.

This quote is also just completely made up and not in any way true.

A perfect example of the actual intended goal of this article - racist bullshit
Minnesota’s Somali community must be targeted for deportation raids. Every Somali in Minneapolis whose status is at the discretion of the Department of State should have it revoked. Everyone who is illegal should be rounded up. Tim Walz and Jacob Frey should go to prison.

Obviously the fraud is real and bad, but basically reducing it down to “Tim Walz essentially funds Al Shabaab” is a political hit piece.

And also seems rather indirect if it is true, no? Like most Somalis rely on hawala remittances from the diaspora to survive. Shabaab does tax many hawaladars, but does that mean we demonize everyone who uses the service to provide for family back home? Article implies yes.

Not saying it isn’t possible, but the evidence provided in here is very weak. I realize it’s more about a hit piece against Walz and possibly the Somali-American community writ large, but I would need more physical proof to believe the bigger Shabaab connection here.

There’s actually very little in here outlining how exactly the authors know for a fact that Shabaab is receiving a cut of intl remittances related to various fraud schemes in Minnesota other than “a guy who knows a guy who knows some other people said so.”

Always read @jh_barnett, here he again provides us all with a much needed level headed analysis of what’s actually happening in and with Nigeria
Some initial thoughts on Trump-Nigeria and how it might end (for better or worse) Trump's statements were misinformed, and Abuja can’t fix insecurity overnight But Abuja needs to start showing results, to earn its citizens’ trust as much as Washington’s https://t.co/2D3TBvh1lh

Just in case it wasn't obvious- no, this is completely made up statement. Not only is the font something they don't use, with logos used incorrectly, it's an ideological suicide from their perspective to have someone IS endorse to participate in DEMOCRATIC elections.
Gad Saad, a leading authority on Islam and Islamic movements because he lived in Lebanon until age ten, explains that ISIS has suddenly discarded every one of its core principles in order to support a Shia Muslim it considers an apostate for mayor of New York, and is encouraging

The fact they published this just after the RSF quite literally live-streamed themselves killing scores of civilians in El Fasher is honestly pretty gross.
