'Independent parent' to 3, caffiene junkie, God junkie, nurse. #NHS1000miles
Joined August 2011
Year long thread of books read in 2023 #GoodReadsChallenge lowered my target from 45 in 2022 (which I met) to 25 this year because I want to take more time over reading even though I read fast because I enjoy it.

Short google later pleased to see that fab community hospital is still open 😊 20miles from where I was living was not a high point of my first placement but I learned so much about good compassionate care.

My neighbour is playing the guitar and singing to his 2 year old twins (&2 greyhounds). It about the most cute start to a Saturday I’ve ever heard.

Facebook memories reminded me I used to be purposeful in the holidays. Though my kids are all teens and 20s they’re at home and will be having time off so I’ve gone for the new Mario game, which is only allowed to be played with 2 or more of them, and a book each.

COVID and flu jabbed, no stickers, not even a plaster this time. Nice that it’s become so routine. #getjabbed

The challenge with recovering from major surgery is having time to listen to the Health Secretary denigrate doctors. I found his words repulsive and disgusting. I can’t thank the doctors and nursing staff enough for their expert care of myself and every patient. Pathetic speech.

But commercial services are running down our street. Really bad form @gonortheast
@gonortheast school buses ran yesterday. Haven’t turned up this morning. I get strike action but total lack of communication and information is totally avoidable and causes so many more problems than there needs to be.

A government that values the NHS would pay NHS workers fairly to ensure safe staffing levels on a daily basis. It's that simple. Support striking NHS workers! NHS 💙 #SOSNHS

A reminder that mandatory training exists to protect the employer, not educate the employee, is often not evidence-based, and is rife with discriminatory nonsense like this.

No it actually comes down to 13 years of underfunding and neglect by successive Tory governments. Patients aren’t dying because healthcare workers are striking. Healthcare workers striking because patients are dying.
@thomasdolphin @TheBMA You should all be ashamed and hang your heads down 250,000 people died last month waiting on procedures. Tests and operations and it all comes down to pay rises demanded by doctors. Doctors who were happy enough to take the job they do. ….

As a nation we have to demand an end to this racist rhetoric. The Tory party have chosen Lee Anderson to represent them. They have chosen Suella braverman. We are failing refugees in need. We are failing people in need of help. We need to do better. Seeking asylum is legal.
