I remember thinking these numbers were way too low at the time, but it also wasn’t public knowledge how aggressively gdm was already chasing competition math.
Their bet allowed for formal math AI systems (like AlphaProof). In 2022, almost nobody thought an LLM could be IMO gold level by 2025.

Great paper. I’d love to see a version of this where you gave the tasks to the humans all at once—I’d guess that the humans that are better at running/managing multiple agents in parallel would crush these numbers.
We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers. The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.
