@Tezos co-founder w/ wife @breitwoman & Agitprop founder. Aligning ASI to not zap everyone is unsolved, that's bad. Tezos stuff, high context humor & more.

Unjust laws are made to be broken. Just laws are made to be strictly enforced. And laws against peaceful immigration and work are archetypal unjust laws.
Alex Karp, the CEO of Palantir, defends targeting immigrants by saying elites don’t care about working class Americans sent to prison. He’s saying if you have empathy for immigrants, you have to be empathetic towards criminals or you’re a hypocrite. Note the lecturing tone.

The looted corpse of the OpenAI nonprofit has started pretending to give! Bear in mind, that nonprofit was originally supposed to disburse the profits of AI to humanity as a whole, not larp standard awful pretend philanthropy.

There are reasonable arguments for reducing the reliance on jury trial, but to go about and toss 800 years of Magna Carta like it's just another Tuesday is nuts. Without a written constitution or a proper separation of powers, the best guarantee of stability the UK government
🚨BREAKING: David Lammy is expected to announce later today that jury trials will be scrapped for "either-way" offences These are mid-tier crimes-such as assault, burglary, and drug dealing-that currently allow defendants to choose between trial in a Magistrates’ Court or Crown

Tezos, enforcing the dark hand of token voting since 2018!
I hope Zcash resists the dark hand of token voting. Token voting is bad in all kinds of ways (see https://t.co/Cvl7CFVgtc ); I think it's worse than Zcash's status quo. Privacy is exactly the sort of thing that will erode over time if left to the median token holder.

There's much more to a good chain than IBRL, but IBRL sure doesn't hurt. 50 ms confirmations for now, 10 ms next.
⚙️ Etherlink 6.0 (Farfadet) → Sharper under the hood 🗣️ Native support for secp256r1 (opens the door to WebAuthn, HSMs, TEEs) 🔐 New opcodes + reworked ModExp precompile for stronger performance and security ⚡️ Instant-confirmation option: get receipts in ~50 ms → great for

Image generation was better when it was worse. Could the prompt "receiving true death and forgetting the world" generate such an image today? No. This was, in Baudrillardean terms, seductive (leading astray), whereas current generation is merely productive (bringing forth).

The UK’s Financial Promotions regime is killing stablecoins: The UK keeps saying it wants to lead in crypto and fintech, but its “Financial Promotions” regime is doing the opposite. The name sounds like something about advertising, but, in reality, it has very little to do with

A new 🇨🇳 gain of function study created chimeric coronaviruses that can infect human cells and kill mice (up to 100% mortality). 🚩"The viral infection [and all animal experiments] were performed in a BSL-2 laboratory"(!)🤦♂️ *The authors thank a.o. Ben Hu & Zheng-Li Shi.

Bien sûr, à l’avenir, les guerres seront remportées grâce à de la main-d’œuvre non qualifiée, les drones autonomes ça vient mais ça ne va pas durer, la technologie c'est cyclique.

Conventional authorities are far more wrong on big important things than most people realize. But people convinced of this fact will turn to far less reliable sources. Showing how crazy are authorities will release a far deeper crazy.

Parliamentary supremacy, first past the post voting, and having more than two parties is a particularly awful combination, but that is the UK's political system. That's how you end trashing a thousand year old history of jury trials.

This is important. The fiscal absurdity can be rolled back with enough political will, but if the UK wants nuclear power plants it needs to start building them now.
NEW: Labour MPs call on the PM to accept ALL nuclear recommendations. A group of MPs from across the country, as well as policy experts, have written to @Keir_Starmer, urging him to accept @JohnFingleton1's recommendations and usher in a new wave of British nuclear power 👇
