When President Trump cut off SNAP benefits for more than 1 million of our neighbors, the people of Massachusetts stepped up. We worked with all 13 Massachusetts United Ways to stand up the United Response Fund and raise $7 million to fight hunger in our state.

It’s November 1, and 42 million Americans are wondering how they’ll feed their families without their SNAP benefits. Organizations like The Salem Pantry are stepping up to help folks bridge the gap. That’s why I provided $8 million to Massachusetts food banks this month. It’s

Make that $2.3 million! Thanks to a $1 million gift from @CummingsDotCom, even more support is on the way for children, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities affected by the SNAP freeze. Proud to live in a state where we look out for our neighbors.
We joined forces with all 13 MA United Ways to help families hit by President Trump’s SNAP freeze. In under a week, people donated nearly $1.3M — and counting. Taking care of one another is what we do best. Visit https://t.co/Bda5BNIaXm to learn about more ways to give.

No President has ever cut off SNAP during a shutdown. Billions of dollars are sitting in Washington, waiting to be used for exactly this purpose. Donald Trump could fix this today. He’s choosing not to.

As if taking food away from people wasn’t bad enough, local businesses and farmers are going to lose out on revenue because of Donald Trump’s SNAP freeze. The President has the power to fix this. Instead, he’s letting hungry families and businesses pay the price.

Proud to attend this event with @karleyjude & @TimGarvinUW on behalf of @UnitedWayMABay. We are proud to be a part of this new task force to ensure no one goes hungry in the face of daunting cuts to #Snap and #Medicaid. @UnitedWay
In a state with as much going for it as Massachusetts, no one should ever go hungry. That's something we all agree on. While Donald Trump cuts food assistance, I signed an Executive Order creating a statewide task force to fight hunger in our state.

More than a million people in Massachusetts rely on SNAP — most of them are children, seniors and folks with disabilities. That’s why I joined 22 Governors to send a message to Republicans in Congress: Stop the cuts. Reject this attack on our health and families.

Awesome to toss the ceremonial first bag at @UnitedWayMABay and @MassAFLCIO’s annual cornhole tournament! A little friendly competition is always a good time, especially when it’s for a good cause. My advice — it’s all in the wrist 🎯

Great reporting by @MattPStout on a historically little-paid-attention-to elected office: ‘A hidden secret.’ What you need to know about the surprisingly hot primary battle over the Governor’s Council.

Fourteen Democrats are vying in Tuesday’s primary for one of the eight seats on the council, a long-ignored, sometimes-ridiculed body with roots in the Colonial era.

Big day for @MPSDRams, as today is Dr. Pat Sullivan’s first day as Superintendent, following Jeff Granatino’s retirement after 9 years. Marshfield’s tradition of dedicated, talented educational leaders continues. Congratulations Dr. Sullivan and Mr. Granatino! @MarshfieldSuper

Thank you @MassGovernor & @MassLtGov! This is why I & others fought so hard to pass enhanced summer food benefits for kids. This new program will give families a little extra help over the summer when hunger is often at its worst because kids don’t have access to school meals.
When you’re a kid, summer break is the best time of the year. But too many students who rely on free school breakfast and lunch go hungry when school is out. With help from the federal government, we’re launching a new program to help feed 600,000 children this summer so
