Weak sauce behavior here. The details from this article get worse and worse as you read.
Super interesting story here from @enosarris, on a rule change about data and tech in the minors that will have wide-ranging effects. One of them: negating the advantage some orgs have gained by investing heavily in technology. https://t.co/0UuQei8EtW

Salisbury mourns the profound loss of coach and faculty member Kevin Huber P'23, who passed away unexpectedly this week. Kevin touched countless lives, embodying the best of a Salisbury Gentleman. His legacy lives on in the boys he shaped. Our thoughts are with the Huber family.

@NY647764 Sorry it's not their choice. You're justifying stealing. Our business model is reliant on subscriptions. It's how I make a living.

What is the point in being on Twitter if they have spent years de-prioritizing links and are now just letting Grok steal paywalled content? I know people want to see baseball stuff here but man they make it so difficult.

Moving up to an earlier pick in the @MLBDraft Lottery is obviously huge -- and so is grabbing extra bonus pool money. Using 2025 pool numbers (which will increase for 2026), the @SFGiants gained $3.7 million, @RaysBaseball added $3.2 million & the @Royals got $2.7 million.

WOW!!! The Giants move up 11 spots in the lottery. Thats a game changer for the Giants who rarely pick inside the top 10. Will be a big boost to their bonus pool as well.
Draft lottery winners: Rays (7th to 2nd) Giants (15th to 4th) Royals (16th to 6th) Losers: Pirates (3rd to 5th, can't select higher than 10th in '27 I believe) Orioles/A's (falling out of lottery positions) Cardinals (dropped outside T10)

I think ERA is useful as a record of what happened in the past. The goal of pitching is to limits runs after all. But ERA has limited usefulness as a means to evaluate the 'true' skill level of a pitcher.

We've seen this at the amateur level in the draft for awhile now. And in the '25 draft there were 2 college pitchers taken in the top 100 picks who had a season ERA over 5.00 (47th pick Chase Shores + 62nd pick Malachi Witherspoon).
Jays removing YRodriguez, no tm claiming him after 3.08 ERA is another data point how teams look at ERA. No one thinks he's better than 4.79 Devin Williams, for example. 4.22 xERA, 4.40 FIP, 4.57 DRA And 2nd half where he went from +17 K-BB% to just +2. That's what teams see.

I've only been doing this for a handful of years, but Adonys Guzman remains the best defensive catcher at the high school level that I've seen to date. Great addition for the Red Sox.
This is Adonys Guzman doing Adonys Guzman things . . . and yes, the umpire completely blew this call. Hard to find a catcher this advanced defensively at the high school level.

The Phillies signed NJIT grad MT Morrissey. Back in March, he showed a low 90s fastball w/ intriguing traits and an effective changeup to combat lefties. Morrissey wasn't drafted but clearly he kept training/working and now he's pumping upper 90s heat.
RHP MT Morrissey '25 Grad | 6'1-205 @NJTechBaseball 3/29 FB: 90-94; 92-94 early SL: 80-82 CH: 83-84 Warmups + all 3 outs during inning 2 against Maine. 3 pitch mix w/ the changeup playing well against LHB. Good pickup by NJIT; will be a big weapon in conference play.
