I guess my only real strong take here is: as much as I love, love, love baseball-ref, the most important historical site ... .. they've made the choice not to include framing for C in WAR. Which takes a ton of value away from Raleigh. FG's does. It makes it a lot closer.

"She's nothing short of a hero." No one in baseball today is more of an Iron Horse than @SlangsOnSports! It was an honor to cover her receiving the Iron Horse Award at the Lou Gehrig Legacy Gala this week. https://t.co/Jec0ky94DS

NEW YORK -- On May 2, 1939, Lou Gehrig's famous streak ended after 2,130 games when he took himself out of the Yankees’ lineup. Exactly fifty-four years later, Sarah Langs was born. Their stories...

Wrote about the free agent supermarket and who is available based on what kind of skills you're looking for .. and while this wasn't expressly intended to be a "whoa, Tyler Rogers, he good" piece, it sort of turned into it -->

So you’re a team on the free-agent market, looking to add the next massive piece of what you hope can be a contending team, or maybe just that final complementary part to help get you over the line....

MVP: I'd vote Judge. Big hitting edge. Another (!) historic year. --but also-- A 60-HR catcher is obv insanely valuable. There's never *been* one. --and so-- I think Raleigh wins, due to 60HR-C, and b/c of Judge fatigue --but mostly-- they're both great, no wrong answer.

Leave it to @mike_petriello to find a really unique way to look at the free agent market ⤵️

I'm assuming this is not the first "Royals face decision on India" headline the Times has ever run, though perhaps the first in about 80 years https://t.co/BDn6BRDFel

But also! Search now includes non-pitches, which means we can properly account for automatic balls and strikes and intentional walks in OBP and other metrics, which was a big hole. Thanks to @dohyoungpark for the work on this guy! --> https://t.co/CPml6aHrSn

Innings pitched still matter but we have reached the point where pitcher wins have zero relevance. None, at all. I even heard the most dinosaur sports radio hosts saying it the other day. Skenes could be 4-17 and it wouldn't matter. (Assuming he somehow pitched well doing it.)
BK, Al Leiter and Bob Costas discuss the importance of innings pitched and wins when evaluating pitchers for the Cy Young Award.

PSA: If the person you want to win AL MVP tomorrow does not win it does no good to try to diminish or disparage the accomplishments of the other. We got to witness two great dudes do otherworldly and historic things this season and it truly sucks that one of them has to not

Petriello pipes up: please, please, prevent puns, permanently.
Scott Boras on Pete Alonso: “There’s no doubt Pete’s pursuers are primed to pay the power piper. Pete picked a perfect period to play preeminently at a primary position. A playoff parched plethora will pounce to participate in the Polar Plunge."

There's no such thing as a "favorite" or a "front-runner" for any free agent right now, except maybe if it's a guy likely to stay in the same place. There's no "in the lead," there's no "close to the finish." It's either signed or not signed.
