Also, here's also a fantastic piece from @_dadler talking to Logan O'Hoppe who went from up to down to back up (on a different knee!) just within the course of 2025:. "I feel like this step of going back to the knee has really helped," O'Hoppe said. -->

In case you missed it last week, we put out catcher stance leaderboards so you can see who is catching with knees up or down, and what the effects are . -->

I won't even pretend like one week of RISP BA actually matters but because it is very funny . July RISP BA leaders .

Wrote before the year that despite the vibes to the contrary, I thought the NYY defense would take a step back ( and to date, that's mostly played out

A year ago tomorrow, Jeff McNeil homered off of Skenes and said he was done trying to hunt singles and that he would try to do more damage. He's been a top 25 hitter in MLB since.

There's also some evidence that catching this way allows catchers to stay fresher and simply play more.

For the most part, the trend has taken over the sport so fast that you'd have to think every catcher in the Majors has completely lost their mind to be doing something that doesn't work this well:.

But what you really want to know is: does it hurt blocking? You already know it doesn't. 4 best blockers this year are Kirk, Narvaez, Jansen, & Dingler. All use a knee down 90%+ of the time. Jansen only really started doing it this year -- & his blocking has been great!

This week we're going to publish a leaderboard at Baseball Savant (or showing how many catchers use one knee down, and the outcomes when they do. I greatly look forward to it annoying all the people who like to be annoyed. stay tuned!.

@mike_petriello Are you one of the drones who kept calling Soto a "generational hitter" this past winter? Generationally overrated.
