First, let's understand what we're looking at. Out of nearly 900 pitchers who throw north of 85 MPH. The average body weight is 195 lbs. This puts Alex in the 99th percentile for body weight to velocity ratio.

Not all Four-Seam Fastballs are alike: Your FF shape can be predictive of pitches that are advantageous for your arsenal.

Yes, now all you pitchers out there just make sure to find the most repeatable mechanics possible, because that’s the key to throwing strikes. This is one of the most impressive throws I’ve seen.

Absolutely insane throw by Joe Mack on a double steal last night. Initially looked to third, saw the runner was almost there and threw a seed flat footed to second base.

A 90 MPH Fastball at 155 lbs is going to require an elite set of mechanics. What stands out to you in this delivery?

There are obviously plenty of 13 year olds with good mechanics that don't throw nearly as hard. His physical qualities are significantly above average too. CMJ Height: 36.5 cm (avg 13-year-old: 26.2 cm) Peak Power: 4,085 watts (avg 13-year-old: 2,400 watts)

First, he has exceptional throwing mechanics. He moves exceptionally fast down the mound and supplements it with above average rotational velocities

At @drivelinebase, we've assessed tons of youth athletes through our Academy program. The average 13-year-old fastball velocity in our database? Just 64.9 mph. So what makes this kid throw 18 mph harder than his peers? 🧡

Quite possibly the most unique pitch I've seen. Knuckleball grip with downward action. At times, up to -20 inches of vertical break from Seattle U pitcher Blake Smith.

Cole Aney of @chabotbaseball was up to 91.5 mph in his latest Mocap Assessment. A 3 mph jump after just 8 weeks from his initial assessment. Very excited for what is to come in the spring.
