This is a time of profound moral reckoning
Our actions and inactions will leave a lasting and indelible marker on all moving forward
It is very simple, you are either vocal in demands for full Palestinian liberation, or you remain silent and tacitly endorse genocide
Your call.
Good to hear a powerful Irish voice at the Hague today...
Shame that the actual government of Ireland seemed to lose theirs when it was needed most.
You are all past your sell by date... congrats on being SPECTACULARLY on the wrong side of history.
Shame on Robbie Keane.
You may shamelessly chase the NIS and break the call for

🧵1/12: Having been invited to a TJ symposium at the University of Vienna in May, to discuss my book: 'Transitional (in)Justice & Enforcing the Peace on Palestine', I was shocked to receive the following email yesterday from the 'project supervisor' revoking my invitation:
Palestine is rising. Strength and solidarity to my friends and comrades struggling against this relentless assault on their lives and livelihoods and who refuse to be cowed. Your bravery, courage and commitment is truly humbling. We are with you. 🇨🇮🇵🇸
#FreePalestine
On the eve of Christmas , may I just take a second to wish all my followers, friends and comrades on this platform, a free and liberated Palestine.
Keep going. Don't stop talking about Palestine. Resist. Organise. Fight back
Onwards.
Apartheid is deprivation.
Apartheid is segregation.
Apartheid is fragmentation.
Apartheid is dispossession.
Israel’s apartheid over Palestinians is a crime against humanity.
We owe a debt of gratitude to the people of South Africa.
We know that justice and accountability won't flow from the courtroom in the next few days.
But, we MUST use all means at our disposal to end this madness.
Solidarity with those in court making the case tomorrow.
My former place of work, Al Quds University, was attacked last night by Israeli occupation forces. Solidarity and strength to my friends, former students and colleagues who are under relentless and sustained attack from a rogue settler colonial regime.
I've never seen a rally for Palestine this big in Belfast before.
Never.
From across our own divide, we stood united.
We will continue to do so.
#Belfast
#Palestine
Truly horrific.
1,500 Palestinians executed.
22 patients lying in their beds.
And remember how quickly the world moved beyond Al Shifa to focus on the aid workers killed.
Belfast. I love you.
We go again.
We end 2023 more determined and committed than ever.
From the river to the sea.
Onwards, to a free and liberated Palestine.
CEASEFIRE. Now.
Justice. Now.
Freedom. Now.
A few weeks ago I was cancelled by the University of Vienna.
Thanks to
@DAWN_Journal
for allowing me space to share what happened.
We wont stand for this nonsense.
Violence does not happen in a vacuum. Context is critical. Attempts at elimination, erasure and control will always breed resistance. Only fundamental, decolonial change, coupled with a commitment to repair for decades of injustice will provide an opportunity for enduring peace
8/12: I view this revocation as a deliberate and aggressive attempt to smear, & to subvert critical conversations on the situation as is unfolding in Palestine.
It is, in my opinion, an egregious and wholly unacceptable attempt at academic censorship.
Every academic who refuses to engage with the call for boycott, and who normalise relations with an Israeli state hell bent on killing Palestinians of all ages, all walks of life, has blood on their hands.
No ifs, no buts. This is on you. For shame.
Rest in power, Muhammad.
We knew that once TCD took this decisive action, others would follow.
Today we learn of UCC, & just now some news coming out of QUB.
Irish universities are taking a decisive stand against apartheid, against settler colonialism, & against genocide.
Just the start. Not the end.
@GaryLineker
@Africa4Pal
Do you know what else is mad, Gary? They allow states who do this (Israel) to play in European football competitions, whilst simultaneously going after other rogue states like Russia... Crazy, eh?
In a week were the establishment mainstream media tried to suppress support for Palestine by banning the wearing of a badge that had 'Gaza' written on it...
These fellas took matters into their own hands.
Well done,
@KNEECAPCEOL
. Proper direct action.
2/12: I hold the position of Fellow of Trinity College Dublin, a title bestowed on those whose scholarship has been recognised as 'excellent' by internationally renowned peers.
My recent book was nominated for an academic book award, & received a number of positive reviews.
10/12: My decision to document this publicly is that I refuse to allow this level of attempted silencing to go unchecked. To do so would be an abdication of the responsibility I have to my Palestinian friends, comrades, & those with whom I have been working alongside for 15yrs.
11/12: Since sharing details of this unfortunate & disturbing turn of events, I have been invited to speak at two other important internationally renowned institutions, & look forward to engaging fulsomely in fruitful conversations on Palestine, solidarity & academic freedom.
4/12: Beyond the time wasted in scheduling, submitting abstracts, and curating schedules, I am deeply dismayed by the tone of the email sent, and deplore the insinuations therein.
I have subsequently passed the mail on to my legal friends and comrades.
5/12: I categorically reject any association of my name & character alongside a purported 'rise in anti Semitic hate crimes' & am disturbed that the project supervisor considers my involvement in this symposium to in any way amount to a possible 'hostile environment'.
Just off phone to a comrade in Palestine who wanted to know outcome of the
#Dail
vote.
I explained and said how disappointing it is and in his beautiful, composed, calm and reflective tone simply said:
'we know the Irish government is not the Irish people'.
Comrades. Onwards.
Being at the funeral of
#ShireenAbuAkleh
today was a privilege and an honour that I will never take lightly. The violence meted out by the Israeli forces against those gathered to mourn shows the extent to which, even in death Palestinians are subjected to gratuitous violence.
When I first joined Trinity I helped bring together a cohort of Palestinian partners under an Erasmus scheme.
One of those partners was the Islamic University Gaza.
In 2024, the university no longer exists.
This is why we speak up and speak out.
Israel has destroyed all 12 universities in Gaza and has murdered around 100 Palestinian academics and scholars & thousands of students. Join us today as we honor them and demand Irish universities across the island to divest from genocide.
#TLC4P
7:12 I am not seeking sympathies, nor do I view this situation as particularly unique; we see comrades being attacked and de-platformed for having the audacity to speak up, constantly.
However, at a time of ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people...
6/12: Over the past 10 months I have had the privilege of speaking at a range of institutions, across a number of continents.
My critique of TJ, liberal peacebuilding, and my strong and vocal stance on solidarity with Palestine has been listened to, and respected everywhere.
@GaryLineker
@Africa4Pal
Too right, Gary. Was absolutely awful, yet the reality on the ground for Palestinians. Here's a few more pics I took today. Feel free to share. By the way, the hearse you see, has the windows put in at the back... Imagine that?!
3/12: The alleged reason given for revocation: due to a 'special responsibility' of legal scholars in Austria to 'ensure a safe & respectful environment when anti Semitic hate crimes are on the rise'... & 'due to statements made on social media... we cannot give you the floor'.
I was living in Palestine the day Ahmad Manasra was arrested
Working with my friends and comrades at
@AlQudsU
during a crazy moment.
I remember the video of him lying on the tracks. Vulnerable. A child.
Hell does not describe what he has been through.
Bring them all home.
🇵🇸
I am hearing that Ahmad Manasra may be finally freed in the hostage exchange 😭 Please, God, let this be true. Ahmad is a suicidal adolescent who has been imprisoned & tortured by the Israel occupation since he was 13 & held in solitary confinement since November 2021.
Today we mark 30 years since the Genocide against the Tutsi.
We honour the victims.
And we praise Rwanda's journey from darkness to hope, and from pain to progress.
It’s an example for the world.
There are people sitting in London and New York cheering this on, lionising the killers, while complaining about how oppressed they feel by the sight of a keffiyeh.
I hope Rafah haunts those who refused to speak up, sign a letter, and endorse BDS.
I hope those people know we will never take them seriously ever again.
From politicians, to academics, to everyone in between.
Reports from comrades on the ground in West Bank telling me of the sheer scale of internment being imposed on the Palestinian population
Thousands being arrested, their phones searched and confiscated, and being beaten
This is a war against everyone and everything in Palestine
This evening the people of Belfast came out to show our support for our comrades in Palestine. Hundreds turned out to protest Israel's settler colonial aggression and demand strong Irish political action. No more rhetoric!!

Strength and solidarity with the people of Jenin.
Reports of a massacre taking place with war crimes being committed by the Israeli forces.
Air strikes, snipers, wanton destruction of infrastructure.
9/12: I consider it a privilege to have been asked to join a collective group of scholars, those whose contributions to the field of TJ have helped to expand the boundaries of how we critique the liberal application of the sub-discipline in asymmetrical conflict contexts.
Make no mistake, the British government, the US government, and the EU are collectively responsible for what is unfolding on the ground in Gaza.
This is beyond deplorable.
Sitting down to read this newly published book and can't believe that

Solidarity with students

, those who demanded justice for Palestine, who called on their university, to which they pay fees, to divest from apartheid.
Shame on staff who claim radical politics & stayed away.
And shame on management who called in cops to arrest them.
📢📢Hot take: you can criticize American, British, European, NATO hypocrisy, imperialism, and conquest whilst also condemning the dire situation unfolding in Ukraine. It's called being consistent.
This is the Islamic University in Gaza.
In 2019, I was part of an Erasmus Plus consortium that brought together Trinity with Palestinian Universities. The team from Gaza were prevented from travel for the kick off meeting.
Now the university no longer exists.
Think about that.
What remains of the Islamic University of Gaza. Almost all the Palestinian academic institutions in Gaza have been deliberately destroyed by the Israeli military. Imagine all the academic institutions in your country reduced to rubbles.
Do better,
@rtenews
.
This is a wholly inappropriate way to report what is happening.
Who is starving the babies of oxygen?
Who is bombing the hospital?
Who is targeting doctors and medical staff?
The Irish people will not accept your spin here.
I repeat, do better.
The Israeli military has said it would start evacuating newborn babies from Gaza's main hospital tomorrow after two infants died amid power outages at the hospital |
Israeli strikes killed Mohammad Abdulrahim Saleh in

today.
Mohammed, 21, was a poet and a filmmaker, passionate about literature and life. He published his poetry collection 7 months ago and had graduated from the Islamic University, which was also bombed yesterday.
The world continues to fail Palestine.
130 premature babies in Gaza about to die because there's not enough fuel to keep generators that power incubators going.
Mass murder facilitated by the EU/US/UK.
The biggest fuck you is for Joe Biden.
You're no friend of Ireland.
Juxtapose Malcolm Shaw's 'performance' here with the precision, the seriousness, the meticulous sensitivity displayed by the SA team yesterday.
The arrogance summed up perfectly when he chuckled at 'losing a page'.
This is absolutely embarrassing.
Scundered for ya, Malcolm.
Dear "Peace Studies" scholars,
And everyone else in the academy who refused to endorse the call for full academic boycott, sign a letter, & break ties with the settler regime,
And those who actively continued to grow links with Israeli institutions.
This one's for you.
👇
The Israeli military just blew up the University of Palestine in Gaza City with 315 mines. All the universities in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed. We need a full academic boycott.
Israel directly bombs fleeing Gazans after ordering them to flee in that particular direction!
Israel continues to bomb the very South of Gaza that it ordered 1.2 million to evacuate to!
In 7 days, Israel killed over 2215, inc. 724 kids & 458 women! 8,714 wounded
Pure carnage!
President Higgins this afternoon received the President of the Palestinian FA, Jibril Rajoub, Ambassador Dr Jilan Abdalmajid and players and managers of the Palestine and

Young people in 6th form college, engaged in Palestine, and doing final year projects on Palestine and the limitations of international 'justice'
The kids are alright!!
👇
I have listened to the arguments put forward for going.
I find them weak and wholly unconvincing.
Profoundly disappointing, & a decision that damages credibility and is out of step with the grassroots.
I would strongly urge a serious rethink.
Question:
If you're a "peace studies" scholar, who doesn't sign a letter, or publicly speak out during an actual genocide...
What kind of "peace" do you study?
Asking for 2.3 million friends.
We welcome the news that four Norwegian universities have suspended ties with complicit Israeli universities over Israel’s

This is what Palestinians, including universities and faculty unions, are calling for as the most effective means of solidarity. 🧵
Solidarity with Prof. Barghouti.
As a former colleague
@AlQudsU
, it warms my heart to see you free.
And it breaks my heart that so many academics around the world, including from my own institution, have remained silent during your incarceration.
After 6 months held without charges, Prof. Barghouti is finally free! He is on his way to Ramallah where his family is waiting to welcome him.
We celebrate his release, but these images touch us deeply. Prof. Barghouti lost an alarming amount of weight and appears to be very weak
Trinity now has an encampment, supporting the legitimate demands of the BDS movement
Since joining in 2016 I've been agitating for an end to connections with the apartheid state
The Israeli academy facilitates the occupation
Disclose. Divest.
Let's lead the way on the island
Why the academic boycott is so crucial
The Israeli academy is a cornerstone of the settler colonial project
Irish academic institutions have been forging partnerships with Bar Ilan (and some are in the pipeline as well)
Are you ok with this?
Dismantle apartheid. Do your bit.
Israeli settler academia for ethnic cleansing. This is a geographer and geologist from Bar Ilan University advocating for expulsion to Sinai as a humanitarian solution.

regarding the Irish government's rhetoric on Palestine are absolutely spot on. Fair play to her for calling them out, directly.

I'm in good company!
In 2019 I secured a major Erasmus grant linking

with various Palestinian partners, including the Islamic University Gaza.
Our aim was to foster pedagogical opportunities and R&D around conflict resolution.
To see what it has been reduced to now is heart wrenching.
Soon, soon, this will all come crumbling down.
And what will remain will be the laughter of the children.
Strength and courage with those who demand to be free from the scourge of these zionist terrorists and their western cheerleaders.
Not so long ago, a few 'scholars' on this island penned a letter in a major broadsheet, denying this was genocide.
Thankful for the likes of John Dugard, et. al.

I've driven these roads many, many times in my life and to see this makes my stomach churn.
These are truly frightening times. Solidarity with everyone on the ground.
What we witnessed today in western media is the most outrageous gaslighting on an industrial scale.
Meanwhile, the Israelis continue to bomb the shit out of Gaza, including wiping entire families off the register
What has become normalised the past 11 days is truly insane.
Except for women in Gaza being slaughtered.
Or those who have lost babies due to the horrors of a genocide.
Or those mothers, who have seen their sons, daughters, husbands, blown to smitherines.
Such performative, liberal, feminist b/s.
Such a coup,
@QUBelfast
Slow clap 👏
"she buried her brother in the backyard of the house"...
Academics who stayed silent, those who refused to support us in the demands we made to end this, own this trauma.
We wil never forget.
Bayan is not missing; she's okay and stuck in her house near Al-Shifaa Hospital! Not inside the hospital with several neighbors, and they don't have enough food. She buried her brother in the backyard of the house. What needs to be done is to help evacuate them!
@BayanPalestine
Academics....
Still can't sigh a letter?
Still can't join the call for BDS?
If not now, when?
When everyone is gone, you'll tell us you were with us all along.
Appreciate the solidarity & camaraderie I've been shown the last few days.
More to come on the next steps. For me, silence is not, nor has it ever been, an option.
Onwards to a free & liberated Palestine.
For now, I'll leave you with the words of brother Malcolm.
