Cocaine has dropped from £36k a kilo to £15k a kilo in the last five years. We should put the criminals in charge of chocolate importation too. 🍫

An excellent question: retirement age increased, so aren’t we now seeing just the recategorisation of people? Not for sickness benefit. It was declining 2002-2018 then v-shaped rebound unlinked to retirement rules. The sharpest rise is amongst the young….

so much of britain’s horrible political culture hinges on the belief that state pension isn’t a benefit because people “paid in”

Aging and particularly in UK shift in retirement age. For women retirement age used to be 60.

Isn't quite a bit of this due to an ageing demographic - ie more people getting signed off sick because more people are approaching retirement age.

That means around 1 in every 44 households in Gorton and Denton put up a Green Party poster or board in a single day.

Imo it's part of the advantage of minor parties in byelection when they take a swing at them- their potential vote is very soft because no one has *ever* tried to convince them to vote green or libdem or whatever.

The big challenge facing the Greens is that they've never knocked on large swathes of the constituency. Their surge as a party is very recent, after all. So they need vast numbers of doorknockers given there are only 26 days until the by-election.

Would assume this more to do with functionality than universal standards. A person being tested in 1968 might be expected to utilise maths in work in very different ways to someone in 1996 but someone in 96 and now will utilise them similarly.

We tried something related for A-level maths. Results as follows. * Standards declined between 1968 and 1996. The quality of work that would have produced an E in 1968 would have got a B in 1996. * Standards did not change much between 1996 and 2012.

China’s rise is the story of production, planning and scale. Britain’s decline is the story of rent and dependency. Real sovereignty rests on productive capacity. I argue that requires a new relationship with China — and less obedience to Washington 👇 https://t.co/2rieRg5RjV

For whatever neurodivergent reason, Musk is incapable of talking in code and innuendo, which makes his exchanges with Epstein interesting. In this case, the dialogue went something like this: Epstein: do you want to come over to my place for a party, I'll have many interesting

Epstein: "do you think i am retarded...there is no one over 25 and all very cute" Jeffrey Epstein writes to Elon Musk after Musk says coming to NY for the UNGA would be a waste of time. First saw this posted by @BoltzmannBooty, whose account is private.

Everyone likes to compare the end of American hegemony to the gerontocratic decline of the Soviet Union. But the manifest complicity of our ruling class in the horrors of the Epstein scandal bring to mind nothing so much as the decadent depravity of Tsarist Russia
