Please check out our recently accepted publication in IJPS! Using flower mass, autofertility rates, and seed number/mass of cleistogamous and chasmogamous flowers we calculated and compared the cost of reproduction of both flower types!.

Haven’t been on this account in a while, but it’s b/c I’ve been busy during my first year as a consulting wildlife biologist/botanist & it’s been incredible! Plenty of beautiful sights and wildlife (All species handled with appropriate permits and protocols).

Go check out this paper! It was a fun experiment involving many hand pollinations that yielded interesting results. We believe our data collection can serve as a template for future experiments interested in the evolutionary maintenance of cleistogamy.
