A reminder that Hopkins students put their literal bodies on the line, were arrested by 80 cops, spent time in jail so that the contracts between Hopkins and ICE would come to an end. Yesterday, those contracts *were* ended. What a year for JHU campus activism. Full heart today.
Not to keep corny tweeting but if you can send good thoughts and energy my way for tomorrow morning I will appreciate it more than you can imagine. This hell will be over soon enough
I will never forget the first time I had to flush someone's eyes, how I had to keep them open for him because of the pain caused by the chemical weapons that the NYPD unleashed on a crowd of peaceful protestors
My hearing in front of the committee of disciplinary affairs for disruptive action went really well! Can't give details and I won't know my sanctions until tomorrow morning, but thank you all bc whatever you did worked

holy shit it just occurred to me that people take photos of lightning using LONG EXPOSURES like DUH... no fucking wonder I've never been able to take any by trying to hit the shutter at juuuust the right time ;_;
my abuelita isn't doing too well - she can't really talk or walk on her own - but my dad's playing her spanish civil war songs (ay carmela, el quinto regimiento, etc) and it brings a smile to her face and gets her to sing a little and I :,)
Finding out that the "first latino to lead Homeland Security" is a white Cuban-American who grew up in Beverly Hills and whose father owned a factory in Cuba before the revolution is *chefs kiss*

Rich Americans going to countries in the global south to get away from COVID-19 on luxury vacations and feeling "liberated" is considered newsworthy, but the author of this article couldn't be bothered to interview anyone from those countries about what they think??
didn't think that taking a class called "earth as a planet" would convince me of astrology but now I actually know what retrograde means and it's all true, every bit of it
Happy to say that my heart has become warmer, not colder, as I grow, and that I am more sensitive than I used to be. What may have been signs of weakness in the past give me strength today.
Reading Fanon and Marx in college is not a "political education". When we read revolutionaries in classrooms, they're defanged and gutted of what their ideas point to. The practical question of what to do with this information takes a back seat.
It's only 1 week into my immigration law internship and I already feel 10 years older while also feeling like a case-building, record-filing, copy-making, pdf-compiling, document-translating MACHINE
Let's be clear: cracking down on "fare evasion" has nothing to do with $2.75 and everything to do with social control and the subjugation of Black people
How Do I Explain To UChicago Students That Students Should Not Be Getting Shot By The Police And That Furthermore Nobody Should be Getting Shot By The Police Because The Police Should Not Be Armed And In Fact The Police Should Not Even Exist
Today I'm reminded of what George Jackson wrote about MLK in his prison letters. It's incredible how much his thoughts and feelings developed over the span of just a few years (last page is from June 1970)

We also can't count on the situation becoming more favorable on its own. Intervening this summer can play a part forging this generation's fighters. In that way, it can have a similar effect as '68, with the very real possibility of completely disrupting the clown show
I'm gonna be in Chicago till next Friday and won't be back until the Fall. If any of you want to hang out, catch up, or need help with anything before then, reach out! I don't have a lotta time but times are tough and we could all use a little help and a little company
Been trying to grapple with my anxiety after my therapist ghosted me so I downloaded all the content of a certain popular meditation app and it's honestly pretty helpful, dm me if you want a link I'm trying to spread the love
6 Ferguson activists found dead and people tweeting nonsense like this. Decentralization isn't a magical solution to the organizational problems people were facing in the 60s
We were forced to watch a cock fight in my sociology class and you wouldn't believe how much people wanted to talk about how much it said about society
Adding a new contact on your phone and getting that Signal notification that they're on Signal is the best part about that app. You here for drugs or for political work?
