I'm on BlueSky if you're not already following me there. @ariehkovler.com is my username. I still tweet here. Sometimes I post the same things on both platforms. Sometimes I post different things, especially because the conversations are different.

Legality aside, what are the *mechanics* of appropriation? How does money collected by the IRS etc become money held by the Federal Government more generally? Who pushes the button? Are there any *mechanical* barriers to them just taking it?

Naturopathic physicians have been reversing diabetes and heart disease for decades, as well as cancer, early stage Alzheimer's and liver and kidney disease. But the patient has to be all in, and must be willing to quit swallowing and injecting junk, or it won't work at all.

I've been reporting to @Meta fake profiles that impersonate me on Facebook. Meta refuses to remove the impersonators, for some inscrutable reason considering impersonation of an investigative journalist to *not* be a violation or their terms. This is irresponsible and dangerous.

Trump is sharing the map of the first stage of the Israeli withdrawal even before the talks in this have started and shortly after Netanyahu’s (apparently baseless) boast that the IDF would remain “deep within the territory, in dominating positions” during the hostage release

Chikli is on his own private mission to boost the European far right. Netanyahu doesn't support the agenda, at least not with the nutters that Chikli is cuddling up to, but he's too politically weak to do anything about it beyond brief grumbling statements.

So if Hamas releases all the hostages tomorrow, then Itamar ben Gvir will resign from the Israeli government in protest? But if they keep them in their dungeons, he'll remain Internal Security Minister and keep backing Netanyahu?

Europe is in the same grip of nonsense as the New Jersey Drone Panic from last year. Everyone has a camera on them, and yet mysteriously, nobody can get a confirmed picture of a drone.

6. The UK is still one of the safest places in the world to be a Jew (In part, that's because it's an island with gun control: you can't just buy a bunch of semiautomatic rifles) But it doesn't feel that way to many British Jews, especially now.

5. Obviously this attack happened now, as antisemitism is rising in the UK and globally in the context of the Gaza war. But equally, this sort of attack wouldn't have been surprising to anyone in the Jewish community if it had happened in 2022, or 2017, or 2012.

4. That said, Yom Kippur is also when the Jewish community is on highest alert. Synagogues have extra security, with armed police patrolling. The terrorist's choice of Yom Kippur to carry out the attack meant that the synagogue was better protected and the police response faster.

3. Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the Jewish year and a day when Jews, even those who aren't usually religious, flock to synagogue services. Some men even wear a kittel, a white gown said to resemble a burial shroud. An attack on Yom Kippur feels like an attack on Jewish life

2. The car/knife attack has become a standard terror tactic in the last two decades. No need to buy a gun or learn how to build a bomb. The UK has seen several of these attacks, including the 2013 murder of Lee Rigby and the 2017 Westminster and London Bridge attacks.

Some thoughts on on the Manchester synagogue attack: 1. This is the first deadly attack against Jews in the UK in my lifetime. That's a big contrast with the US and France, which have seen numerous fatal antisemitic terrorist attacks in recent decades.

My quick and unreliable checks suggest that there is someone who calls himself Jihad Alshamie, with no hyphen, who lives in the Greater Manchester area. Could be a coincidence but that spelling is really quite unusual.

"Al-Shamie" is an unusual (but not unique) spelling of the common Syrian surname Shami (ie "Syrian"). Which makes me raise at least one eyebrow at this 2012 interview with then-Tory MP John Howell: https://t.co/J2R5xcj7wF

I think you can do "the awful Democrats have forced this terrible shutdown, which we hate, on you. Boo to them!" OR you can do "Shutdowns are awesome and I'm going to use this shutdown to fuck you all over with Project 2025", but you can't do both.
