THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER to protect chronically ill & disabled people! A White Paper is coming THIS AUTUMN which is going to take a wrecking ball to incapacity benefits (LCW/LCWRA/ESA) DON'T REPEAT THE SAME MISTAKES THAT LED TO THE UC BILL READ & OPPOSE! https://t.co/GODRNX4YcG

Our response to the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill 📢 We've shared a detailed breakdown of what's in the bill, why we oppose it and what you can do to resist disability benefit cuts. #StopTheCuts #TakingThePip Find out more: https://t.co/pasqTsRAnt

The government claims cutting disability benefits is about getting people into work. But they haven't produced evidence backing this up. Meanwhile, an FOI request reveals that these cuts would remove PIP from 281,000 of the 510,000 claimants currently in work #TakingThePIP
Private Eye has found that that 281,000 PIP claimants *already in paid work* stand to lose out under the proposed cuts (i.e the four-point rule) That's 55% of all PIP claimants in paid work, according to the article (not my article but I want to flag it)

Everything about this bill is calculated for cruelty. It really makes me see red when clinical academics, faced with an avalanche of deliberately deadly policies, insist that what's needed is more evidence. This policy is not built on evidence; it can't be fought through evidence
Nooooooo? They snuck that little blighter in there. Lots of people have health conditions diagnosed in private sector and through employment insurance schemes. WOW

I still recall the shame I felt as a social worker sat in my home & talked about my very large care package. We’re not considering assisted suicide in the context of an ideal scenario but within our current failing systems: https://t.co/d0VMlr92S4

📢We have written to Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, to outline the key areas we think should be a priority for the new Government to improve care for those living with mental ill-health, distress and trauma. Read the letter:

Four years ago, I was discharged from an inpatient eating disorder ward in London, but I shouldn’t have been.

This patterning is linked to death by suicide and homicides and has been for over 40 years. Don’t get rid of CPA.

We just need a few more contributions to reach our stretch target and be able to send copies to relevant local politicians as well as MPs.
Crowdfunder success means every MP will receive copy of book that lays bare decades of DWP violence #DWP #TheDepartment

So #DWP has just published stats on #UniversalCredit migration notices sent out between July 2022 and Feb 2024. More than a third of individuals did not claim UC and their legacy benefits were closed. This is hugely concerning, isn't it @stephenctimms? https://t.co/TcJ7y9Jxjq

Were you an NHS inpatient between Oct 2021 and Apr 2023 at any of these Trusts? @TEWV
@rdash_nhs
@EPUTNHS You may have been filmed in your inpatient bedroom without your knowledge or consent and footage of you sent to researchers. @katiecoletv
#StopOxevision
Why is @NHSEngland allowing oxevision to be rolled out without proper scrutiny and used as an experimental tool on non-consenting NHS inpatients who are filmed in their hospital bedrooms like rats in a lab? @TEWV @rdash_nhs @EPUTNHS

so wes wants a clinical trial for puberty blockers. as if that leads to any kind of real "evidence". disabled ppl know the mechanism so well: don't listen to us, instead demand "evidence-based interventions" but oops the evidence comes from the health tech manufacturer?

in academia procedural ethics is so often dissociated from actual ethics. doesn't matter your uni says it's ok if you're researching people who never consented to be surveilled. shame on those researchers. scrap the project, scrap the tech, stop harming survivors.
Today we sent a letter to the HRA asking for retraction of ethical approval of a study that involved analysing blurred video of patients in their bedroom for up to 2 hours prior to self-harm The patients have no idea they’ve been part of this study. They were never asked consent
