+ Forcing to find out own mistakes/weaknesses or asking somebody for feedback is a very scarce trait but pays off even in the short run.

I read other remarkable critics in Goodreads reviews too. Nevertheless, I think it is intellectually worth reading.

On the contrary, we know that it was the Sultans who pushed to develop the empire unlike the Habsburgs or Russian czars who banned the industrialization attempts that potentially harm the statusquo or the emperors of China who banned shipping to prevent the rise of an elite class

Are there any prior events that challenged the sultans' authority and led them to forbid printing? Or did Sultan Ahmed III allow it as a compromise like Tudors did with the parliament?
