“We choose to go to the moon”. The author of Good Strategy Bad Strategy also praises this speech and says “Kennedy spoke as a decision maker talking to adults, not as a preacher addressing children” https://t.co/55TMZ5s84k

A copy of the Quran was burned outside the Turkish embassy in Sweden. In response, the following verses were recited outside the Swedish embassy in Turkey. Even if they burn the physical copy of the Quran, they can never remove it from the hearts of those who have memorised it.

4) (corr.) You tech pple are not getting it. Anyone who pretends programmatically reading, discussing and digesting these books one/week is a total fraud. You fall for the shallow, vapid, overactive poseur inflating his "scientific" image. Idiots, you deserve Lex Fridman.

+ Forcing to find out own mistakes/weaknesses or asking somebody for feedback is a very scarce trait but pays off even in the short run.

+ But one thing impressed me a lot. After every bankruptcy, he sat and thought deeply about where he did wrong and learned from his mistakes instead of blaming around.

I recently completed the audiobook of Reminiscences of a Stock Operator. It’s just about the cycle of how the author earned millions of dollars and then went bankrupt again and again.

The preeminent culinary difference between Turks and their neighbors is regarding tea consumption: Turkey's citizens not only drink the most tea in the world, but also consume 60 times more tea than Greeks, Cypriots, Syrians, Iraqis, Iranians, Azerbaijanis, Armenians & Georgians

Bir türlü ısınamadığım laflar: 1.Kentsel dönüşüm 2.Etkisiz hale getirme (genelde teröristleri) 3.Evsel atık (çöpe ne oldu) 4.Kontrolünüzü sağlıyorum (ç. merkezlerinde her cümle sağlıyorumla biter) 5.Düzensiz göçmen (dağınık pasaklı filan mı bunlar) 6.Yaşam kalitesi (çok sevimsiz)

Btw I remember some critics that claims this book doesn’t explain the developments of South Korea or China which is clearly false as it has a dedicated chapter for that.

I read other remarkable critics in Goodreads reviews too. Nevertheless, I think it is intellectually worth reading.

On the contrary, we know that it was the Sultans who pushed to develop the empire unlike the Habsburgs or Russian czars who banned the industrialization attempts that potentially harm the statusquo or the emperors of China who banned shipping to prevent the rise of an elite class

Are there any prior events that challenged the sultans' authority and led them to forbid printing? Or did Sultan Ahmed III allow it as a compromise like Tudors did with the parliament?
