Using Nepalese data, we find that at higher education, govt. receives more revenue per extra year of school than it incurs in costs. Higher job formality among more educated is an important reason. In contrast, fiscal returns are quite small for primary and secondary levels.

Finally got to meet @bhanu_gupta1 in person rather than online! Bhanu does research on public econ, and has interesting work on tax compliance by firms in India. He has also been working directly with state governments on other cool tax projects! 8/n.
