👀 Two further cases of measles identified in Scotland (total now 5). If you have never been vaccinated against measles or been infected, please consider getting the MMR vaccine. It is safe & very effective.

https://t.co/ncB41USpGQ RADIANT-TB trial today in Lancet HIV. Khayelitsha 🇿🇦. Evaluated dolutegravir dosing on TB treatment. 83% VL suppression at week 24 in both 50mg bd and in 50mg daily arms. Limitations: phase 2, sample size 108. Caveat: Participants on 1st line ART only.

Our findings suggest that twice-daily dolutegravir might be unnecessary in people with HIV-associated tuberculosis.

In acute medicine, we often treat patients with a first presentation of ‘psychosis’, & need to make decisions about how far we investigate for auto-immune encephalitis. This article suggests 1/12 pts presenting with de novo psychosis have AI encephalitis.

1/THREAD Ever wonder why fluoroquinolones increase the risk of tendon rupture? It seems so random that a whole class of antibiotics could cause tendon injuries, but the risk is real. #medtwitter #tweetorial

For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help. I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).
