It’s almost as if relationships between humans exist and explain how good things happen
I've been at Google coming on 12 years, and I'm a great PM I swear, but sometimes I wonder if the biggest value I provide to Google is having friends everywhere so it's easy to skip through the bureaucracy and get stuff done at scale

A refrigerator that can make food last three times longer? My friend @ZacharyCohn just announced his company @tomorrowfridge is working on exactly that. What do you wish lasted longer in your fridge? https://t.co/ZQ34mbTNoZ

@jarango @berkun My thoughts—design is hard because of non-design factors. Design itself is not hard. I posted it on @Reddit yesterday:

Many designers feel beleaguered. @berkun has written a book that will help. Check out my interview with Scott about Why Design is Hard in the latest episode of my podcast:

"Your success as a designer depends equally on your relationships as it does your talent. The ppl you need as allies will know little about design. Your ability to convince them to use your ideas is as valuable as your creativity." - From Why Design Is Hard #designishard

Launched yesterday. Got my copy today delivered today!
1. The main idea of Why Design Is Hard is that designers in organizations need to reframe the way we think about our work. We have many valid complaints - but we have misplaced faith that complaining changes anything for anyone. #designishard #ux #design

5. The book is situational - it centers on the most common frustrating situations designers face, based on research, and advises on healthier ways to overcome them.

4. This is OK if we frame the problem better. We need to choose to: A) Get more power B) Get more influence C) Grow acceptance of not wanting A or B Those are our 3 choices. Choosing D, just complain, is learned helplessness. I don't recommend this for your mental health.
