Today, Battleship New Jersey survived what may be her first earthquake while on land! The Japanese battlecruiser Amagi, approximately the same size as New Jersey, was wrecked by an earthquake in 1923 but the Black Dragon weathered hers unharmed.
Dry dock tours are available for a limited time this spring starting this weekend April 6 and 7! Not only will you see the underside of the ship, but you’ll learn about our ongoing restoration efforts that are vital to the Battleship’s longevity.
She is floating! Crews today will be moving her 4 feet forward, and setting her back down again to paint and maintenance the areas that were under the keel blocks.
Today, Battleship New Jersey remembers our friend and ship-mate, Jason Hall, military historian and Battleship curator for 11 years, who passed away several years ago. He deeply enjoyed his role on the Battleship and he is dearly missed. Fair winds and following seas, Jason.
🚨Battleship New Jersey is returning on Thursday, June 20🚨 After nearly 12 weeks in dry dock, she will be tugged back to Camden. Help us welcome her home starting at 11am with carnival games, food trucks, live music, bar service, and more for just a $10 donation fee.
