Congrats to #MiamiDade's first female, Dominicana elected Sheriff @votefor_rosie. The people have spoken and put their trust in a member of the Miami-Dade Police Department to lead us into the future as a Sheriff Office.

In Miami Dade, @eqfl_actionPAC endorsed incumbent Luisa Santos won a strong re-election victory. All eyes now move to November where two races heading to a run-off (including @eqfl_actionPAC endorsed Max Tuchman) will determine the balance of power on the board moving forward!

That's why I pledge to bring a robust Public Corruptions unit to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, to keep crime out of local government, protect our tax dollars, and honor the public’s trust.
The governor signed a bill this evening that will gut local ethics commissions - rendering it virtually impossible for them to investigate allegations of misconduct and corruption.

"Another suicide in a Miami-Dade County jail has a federal judge raising serious concerns with county leadership over its treatment of inmates." We need new strategies to deal with mental health and incarceration. I am running to bring true change. https://t.co/IoDBdQy3WL

Miami-Dade's corrections department remains under court supervision, and a federal judge is getting more frustrated about suicides in county jails.

The stage is set for a pair of August primaries to determine who will be the first county sheriff since the post was abolished in the 1960s.
