@interactionsMag ALT: Screen capture of the printed article on I am Disabled but Not 'Impaired'. The image only contains some of the text from the article. (Odd that if you forget to add alt-text and if you don't have the paid version of X, you can't add it to an existing post?).

Thanks, @interactionsMag for publishing my article, "I am disabled but not 'impaired'." I had been thinking about this for years before finally penning it down. Hoping to raise awareness around using respectful terminologies to refer to disabled people!.

Thanks @seattletimes for publishing my op ed! It's something that's been on my mind for quite a bit and captures experiences of several disabled folks. The topic is nuanced and I hope that it serves its purpose to be a conversation starter! #disability.

Usually I make these kinda posts witty, but I don't have the words so I'll just say what it is. I PASSED MY DEFENSE!!. And these amazing people helped make this a reality, which was once nothing but an ambitious dream. Thanks @wobbrockjo @reladner @jeffrey_heer & Joanne Woaik!

Thanks to the Open Scholarship Commons Fellowship by @uwlibraries, I got to present a workshop on "Making Online Data Visualizations Accessible to Screen-Reader Users." Doing #dataviz #a11y research is even more satisfying when you get to share the knowledge with others!

Been reading #chi2024 threads here and maybe it's just me but if we keep rejecting work that improves the state of the world on the basis of (pseudo-)scientific-rigor laws (without the opportunity of providing a rebuttal) then are we really advancing the field? 🤔.
