Well, it looks like last year's record number of proposals is already broken #jwst #cycle4.

Grant rejection, observing proposal rejections, and the childcare place suddenly closing down for good. And it's only Wednesday! 😭😭.

Never complain again about JWST/ALMA being oversubscribed: "The number of hours requested by proposals in period 114 on UT4 amounted to 28.7 the available time" 🤯🤯🤯.

Let me finish this thread by thanking the FRESCO team without which this would not be possible, as well as everyone who has contributed and/or contributes to making JWST a phenomenal observatory for high-redshift science.

With a nominal escape fraction of ionising photons of 10%, we find that FRESCO detects (with spectroscopic redshifts!) galaxies accounting for ~10% of budget of reionisation. We are very close to finding the sources of reionisation!

There are many more things to discuss, but let's finish with a pet peeve of mine - reionisation. With the [OIII] and the negligible dust attenuation, we can compute directly the ionising emissivity of [OIII] detected by FRESCO. This bypasses the usual UVLF+xi_ion approach.

Another cool result comes when combining the slitless spectroscopy of FRESCO (F444W) with CONGRESS (F356) in GN. This gives the median-stacked rest-frame optical spectrum of these objects. We infer low metallicities, medium-high ionisation, and negligible dust attenuation.
