Maria Rakhmaninova was a lecturer at a prestigious Russian university — until one of her students complained that she'd spoken out against Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. https://t.co/eTo5UoXnko

"Don’t worry. We are here to cleanse you from the dirt.” For this @hrw report, I've documented grave abuses by Russian soldiers. Cases of unspeakable cruelty and violence against Ukrainian civilians, including summary executions and sexual violence. https://t.co/Ypzr47kJ9n

I'm Belarusian. Seeing more and more hate against Belarusians as a result of Lukashenko's participation in Putin's atrocious war against Ukraine, I have a few things to say.

Omtalen av studien som sa lock down ikke virker gikk ikke så bra. Og verst her.

Apropos det med at virus muterer til noe mildere
nature.com
Nature - The mutated strain’s effects are more severe, and it is more transmissible — but drugs are still effective against it.

Snyt deg før du hurtigtester deg.
Did You Know: When you swab your nose for a rapid test or a PCR test…. You do NOT want to go for the “snot and gooey” stuff. Nope, the virus lives in the cells lining your nose. You want the swab to rub against and “scrape” the cells of the nasal walls for the best sample.

Superinteressant tråd fra UK om omikron. Færre havner på ICU i denne bølgen, kjempebra.
NEW: first thread of 2022 is an Omicron situation update, starting with a detailed look at UK hospitals, before going international. Let’s start with severity, and the most important chart: Despite steep rises in cases and patients, the number on ventilators has barely risen.

Lege i Ontario av vakt. De vaksinerte plages mest i de øvre luftveiene, det er de uvaksinerte som får heftig covid-lungebetennelse.
I've just finished up my afternoon, evening, and overnight call. Here are my observations. My apologies, but this is going to be a long thread. /1 #Omicron #OmicronVariant #COVID19

An update from our team on the latest vaccine effectiveness (VE) estimates against symptomatic infection with the Omicron variant has now been published in the UKHSA Variant Technical Briefing 33 (page 24). https://t.co/vrczgCgLpM 1/9

Omikronveksten krasjer i London.
Been looking at what we might be able to deduce from the published proportions of Omicron combined with daily case counts. If the case counts are accurate (discussed below), then *growth* in new cases per day of Omicron in London has crashed - i.e. new cases are roughly constant.
