π¨ HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO US! π» What better way to celebrate than to spend time chatting to the one and only Al Murray about his love of military history, the battle of Arnhem, and growing up with a connection to the Airborne fraternity. Don't miss this one! π» @almurray

Founder and former chairman George Bacon spent a remarkably privileged evening recently, attending a ceremony at the City of London Guildhall to receive what he considers the most surprising award of his aviation career to date, courtesy of the Hon Coy of Air Pilots.

85 years ago, trials on the Raoul Hafner rotor-kite concept, which developed into the Rotachute, began. Work at RAF Ringway started in early October 1940 with tests being carried out on autogiro kite rotors. This diagram below shows the launching method concept for the Rotachute.

The Hafner H.8 Rotachute was a British early 1940s experimental one-man rotor kite designed by Raoul Hafner. Conceived to deliver soldiers onto the battlefield, the parachute provided a cheaper and safer alternative! One is displayed at @armyflying in Hampshire.
